Job Title: Vice President - Private Equity
Location: Mumbai
Department: Investment Team
Reports To: Managing Director
Job Summary:
The Vice President - Private Equity will lead and execute end-to-end private equity investment processes, including origination, deal structuring, portfolio management, and exit strategies. This role demands a seasoned investment professional with a deep understanding of financial markets, strong deal execution capabilities, and proven leadership skills. The VP will collaborate with senior management and provide strategic input across investment decisions while mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Origination & Execution:
- Source, screen, and evaluate potential investment opportunities through market research and industry networking.
- Lead financial modeling, valuation, and return analyses.
- Drive investment committee presentations and recommendations.
- Manage end-to-end transaction execution, including due diligence, legal documentation, and deal closure.
Portfolio Management:
- Serve as a board member or observer on portfolio companies.
- Monitor operational and financial performance; review budgets, KPIs, and business plans.
- Develop and execute value creation strategies in collaboration with portfolio management.
- Lead strategic initiatives such as add-on acquisitions, restructuring, or organizational improvements.
Exit Planning:
- Design and implement exit strategies, including secondary sales, IPOs, or strategic M&A.
- Conduct exit readiness assessments and drive the due diligence process for prospective buyers.
- Maximize value realization and ensure alignment with fund performance targets.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build relationships with investment banks, intermediaries, consultants, and co-investors.
- Support fund-level communications with Limited Partners (LPs), including performance updates and due diligence.
- Participate in fundraising and capital deployment planning.
Team Leadership & Internal Collaboration:
- Mentor and oversee Associates and Analysts, review investment materials and deal models.
- Promote a high-performance, collaborative team culture.
- Work closely with internal legal, compliance, and finance teams to ensure reporting accuracy and governance.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. MBA or CA/CFA preferred.
- Demonstrated success in sourcing, structuring, and exiting private equity investments.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and negotiations.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership abilities.
- Experience 10 to 12 years of experience
- We should look at candidates from existing private equity funds and experience of debt is of special interest.
