Job Title: Vice President Taxation
Location: Corporate Office, Mumbai

Purpose of the Role
The Vice President - Taxation is responsible for developing and executing the companys tax strategy, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, optimizing tax liabilities, and aligning tax planning with corporate financial goals. This includes overseeing direct and indirect tax matters, regulatory compliance, and working with key internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Mandatory: Candidates from Big 4 firms with experience handling life insurance clients
Education:
Bachelor's/Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
Professional qualification: CA/CPA or equivalent
Experience:
- 15+ years of total experience
- Minimum 12 years in managerial roles
- Prior work in a regulated industry (preferably insurance or financial services)
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Strategy & Compliance
- Develop and execute comprehensive tax strategies aligned with business objectives
- Monitor and interpret tax legislation changes; implement necessary updates
- Ensure correct availing of input tax credit and filing of accurate and timely tax returns
- Oversee transfer pricing documentation and compliance
- Minimize tax-related risks, including financial penalties
2. Tax Operations
- Lead responses to tax authority queries and attend hearings
- Liaise with external consultants and ensure timely regulatory submissions
- Maintain strong controls to support compliance with IRDAI, SEBI, and other regulators
- Ensure accurate tax-related accounting and reporting
3. People Management
- Hire, coach, and retain a high-performing tax team
- Evaluate team performance and build engagement
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and compliance
4. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal teams (legal, operations, finance) to assess tax impacts
- Build relationships with auditors, regulators, and investors
- Strengthen internal controls and support strategic financial decision-making
Skills & Competencies
- Deep knowledge of insurance taxation and regulatory frameworks
- Strong expertise in direct & indirect tax, transfer pricing, and compliance
- Proficiency in financial planning, accounting, and reporting
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Digital proficiency: MS Office, mobile platforms (Android/Apple)
