Job Description: Vice President (VP) of Accounts

Location: Mumbai

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Governance:

- Oversee accounting operations for multiple EPC projects and construction sites across India, ensuring compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS), Companies Act 2013, and GST/TDS regulations.

- Lead financial planning, cost optimization, and revenue recognition strategies for EPC contracts (e.g., percentage-of-completion method under Ind AS 115).

- Partner with the CFO and leadership to align accounting practices with corporate growth, investor expectations, and SEBI guidelines.

Project & Site Accounting:

- Manage end-to-end accounting for EPC projects, including WIP (Work-in-Progress), milestone billing, cost-to-cost analysis, and contract variance reporting.

- Ensure accurate financial tracking for geographically dispersed sites, addressing risks like delays, cost overruns, and GST/tax compliance.

- Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, cash flow, and financial KPIs, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations.

Statutory Compliance & Reporting:

- Prepare consolidated financial statements for quarterly/annual filings (SEBI, MCA, RBI) as a publicly listed company.

- Strengthen internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance with Statutory Audit, Tax Audit, and IFC requirements.

- Liaise with auditors (statutory/internal), tax authorities, and banks to resolve compliance issues (e.g., GST reconciliations, TDS defaults).

International Exposure (Preferred):

- Manage cross-border accounting for international projects, including forex transactions, transfer pricing, and compliance with FEMA/RBI guidelines.

- Resolve complexities in multi-currency accounting, withholding taxes, and intercompany reconciliations for overseas subsidiaries/JVs.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

- Lead a pan-India team of accountants, fostering adherence to deadlines, accuracy, and process automation (e.g., ERP-driven workflows).

- Advise the CFO and Board on financial risks, liquidity management, and strategic decisions for project bidding and execution.

- Collaborate with legal, tax, and procurement teams to streamline vendor payments, contract management, and working capital cycles.

Qualifications:

- Mandatory: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.

Experience:

- 18+ years of experience in finance/accounting, with 5+ years in leadership roles (e.g., Finance Head, Director) in Indian EPC/construction/renewables sectors.

- Expertise in project accounting for EPC contracts, including Ind AS 115, GST on works contracts, and compliance with ICDS (Income Computation and Disclosure Standards).

- Exposure to publicly listed companies with hands-on experience in SEBI compliance, investor reporting, and quarterly earnings processes.

- Preferred: Experience in international projects or working with global stakeholders (e.g., foreign lenders, MNC clients).

Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Tally Prime, Oracle) and advanced Excel for project cost analytics.

- In-depth knowledge of Ind AS, GST, Income Tax Act, and Companies Act 2013.

- Familiarity with RBI/FEMA guidelines for foreign transactions and forex risk management.

Soft Skills:

- Strong leadership to manage multi-location teams in a deadline-driven environment.

- Excellent communication for liaising with auditors, banks, and senior management.

- Analytical mindset to resolve complex project accounting challenges.
