Head of FMCG Products Acquisitions


Job Summary:


- The Head of FMCG Product Acquisition is responsible for developing and executing strategies to identify, source, and onboard high-potential FMCG brands and products.


- This role involves negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring optimal product selection to drive business growth.


- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, vendor management, and category development within the FMCG industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Acquisition:


- Identify and acquire FMCG products that align with business goals and market demand.


- Develop and implement strategies to onboard new brands and suppliers.

Supplier & Vendor Management:


- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.


- Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contract agreements.

Market & Competitor Analysis:


- Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, consumer preferences, and competitive positioning.


- Use insights to drive strategic sourcing decisions.

Category & Assortment Planning:


- Ensure a diverse and profitable product assortment by working closely with internal stakeholders such as sales, marketing, and supply chain teams.

Negotiation & Cost Optimization:


- Optimize costs through strategic negotiations with suppliers while maintaining product quality and profitability.

Cross-functional Collaboration:


- Work closely with marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure smooth product onboarding, promotional planning, and sales execution.

Performance Monitoring:


- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product acquisition, supplier performance, and sales performance. Implement corrective actions when necessary.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:


- Ensure that all acquired products meet regulatory and quality standards before they are introduced to the market.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Minimum of 8 years of experience in FMCG product acquisition, procurement, or category management.

- Proven track record in supplier negotiations, contract management, and sourcing strategies.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to leverage data-driven decision-making.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

- Tier 1 colleges only. IIMs, XLRI, MDI, FMS, SP Jain etc.

- Knowledge of e-commerce and digital retail landscapes.

- Experience in working with international suppliers and global sourcing.

- Familiarity with ERP and procurement software tools.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)

- Strong analytical, data and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use the information for reporting

- Drive and manage own tasks effectively; work independently and be an effective contributor to the team

- Experience in FMCG/Skincare/Healthcare will be an added advantage

- Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and other modeling tools
