About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chartered Accountant to join our dynamic Taxation team based in Mumbai.
As an Assistant Vice President - Taxation, you will play a crucial role in managing the company's direct and indirect tax obligations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing proactive tax advisory support to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Direct Taxation (70%):
Income Tax Management:
- Manage and oversee the computation of income tax liabilities for the company.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of income tax returns, including advance tax calculations and payments.
- Handle income tax assessments, audits, and related proceedings.
- Stay updated on changes in income tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization.
Corporate Tax Planning:
- Assist in developing and implementing tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
- Identify potential tax risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions.
- Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and documentation requirements.
Tax Audits and Compliance:
- Prepare and coordinate information for tax audits conducted by regulatory authorities.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable direct tax laws and regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation and records related to direct taxation matters.
Indirect Taxation (30%):
Goods and Services Tax (GST) Compliance:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of GST compliance, including registration, return filing (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, etc.), and reconciliation.
- Ensure accurate classification of goods and services and application of appropriate GST rates.
- Handle GST audits and assessments.
Indirect Tax Advisory:
- Provide advice and guidance on various indirect tax matters, including input tax credit optimization, place of supply rules, and exemptions.
- Stay updated on changes in GST laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization.
GST Litigation and Appeals:
- Assist in handling GST-related disputes, appeals, and litigation matters.
- Prepare submissions and represent the company before tax authorities as required.
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate tax reporting in compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments (e.g, Finance, Accounts, Legal) to gather necessary information and ensure tax compliance.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with tax authorities and external consultants.
- Assist in the implementation of tax-related processes and controls.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of tax policies and procedures.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in tax laws and regulations (both direct and indirect).
- Participate in special projects and initiatives related to taxation as required.
Requirements:
- Qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory.
- Experience: Up to 5+ years of post-qualification experience in handling both Direct and Indirect Taxation.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of Indian Direct Tax laws (Income Tax Act, Corporate Tax).
- Comprehensive knowledge of Goods and Services Tax (GST) laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in using tax software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g, SAP, Oracle) is an advantage.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience working in an NBFC or other Financial Services institution is highly desirable.
