About the role:

Smart Joules is an industry leader in energy efficiency and sustainability, providing innovative HVAC solutions to optimize energy use. We are seeking a highly experienced Operations Director - HVAC to lead and oversee the overall operations of our HVAC services, ensuring the highest level of performance, safety, and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the COO, this role is critical in ensuring smooth, effective, and efficient operations across multiple locations as we expand our services nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities of the role will include:

- Operational Leadership: Lead the entire HVAC operations team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across all active sites and projects.

- Develop and implement operational processes and SOPs to ensure consistent service delivery.

- Oversee project management for installation, repair, and maintenance services, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce project cycle times.

- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, other function heads and partners.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.

- Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other external partners to ensure service delivery and client satisfaction.

- Leadership and team development: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team to achieve excellence in all areas of operational excellence.

- Build, manage, and mentor a team of regional operations managers, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure optimal performance.

- Develop a second line of leadership within the operations teams to support succession planning and business growth.

- Compliance & Safety: Develop and enforce safety standards and procedures to protect employees, customers, and the environment.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations

- Anticipate project risks, resolve project issues, and ensure adherence to schedules.

- Financial Oversight: Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality

- Monitor key financial metrics and operational KPIs to ensure the profitability and financial health of HVAC operations

- Technology & Innovation: Drive the adoption of digital tools and technologies to streamline operations, enhance service delivery, and improve data accuracy.

- Keep abreast of industry trends and innovations in HVAC technology to maintain a competitive edge.

The Ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing HVAC projects, developing strategies for operational excellence, and driving innovation in project delivery and maintenance services.

Specific requirements include:

- 12+ years of progressive experience in HVAC operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing operations & maintenance in large-scale HVAC projects

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

- Strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, energy efficiency, and sustainable design. Proficient in HVAC systems design, installation, repair, and maintenance with a strong grasp of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

- Proven track record in managing projects with budgets exceeding INR 50 crore.

- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and working with subcontractors.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

- Knowledge of international HVAC standards and regulations is an advantage.

- International work experience in HVAC or Allied Industries
