Senior Research Analyst - Agricultural Advisory
Job Description:
- We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Agricultural Advisory team as a Senior Research Analyst.
- The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of the agricultural sector and have a strong background in research, policy advisory, and stakeholder engagement.
- The role involves working on various agriculture-focused projects, particularly those related to climate change, sustainability, and regulatory frameworks.
- The candidate should have a passion for developing innovative solutions for policy challenges and contributing to the broader agricultural ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Government and Advisory Engagement:
- Extensive experience in working closely with government bodies, ministries, and public sector organizations on agriculture-related projects.
- Proven ability to engage with government stakeholders, understand their needs, and provide research-based solutions to enhance agricultural policies and programs.
- Exposure to advisory assignments, consulting engagements, and policy frameworks relevant to the agricultural sector.
Multilateral Agency Experience:
- Prior experience of working with international multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, FAO, UNDP, IFAD, or other development agencies would be an added advantage.
- Understanding of how multilaterals operate, their funding mechanisms, and project implementation strategies in the agricultural sector.
Climate Change and Agricultural Livelihoods:
- Hands-on experience working on projects that focus on climate change impacts on agriculture and rural livelihoods.
- Expertise in assessing the vulnerability of agricultural systems to climate change and designing adaptation strategies for farmers and agribusinesses.
- Experience in conducting climate risk assessments, policy analysis, and developing sustainability frameworks for agricultural development.
Carbon Markets and Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation Frameworks:
- Comprehensive understanding of carbon markets, including voluntary and compliance-based carbon credit mechanisms.
- Knowledge of climate change mitigation strategies, carbon sequestration techniques, and adaptation models applicable to the agricultural sector.
- Familiarity with internationally recognized frameworks for climate adaptation and mitigation, such as the IPCC Guidelines, Paris Agreement, and the Green Climate Funds financing mechanisms.
Application of Climate Change Models in Agriculture:
- Demonstrated experience in applying climate change adaptation and mitigation models in real-world agricultural contexts.
- Ability to design and implement solutions that address policy challenges related to climate resilience, water management, and soil conservation.
- Experience in integrating remote sensing, GIS, and predictive modeling for climate-smart agriculture interventions would be a plus.
Policy-Driven Climate Modeling and Analysis:
- Strong experience in utilizing climate models and scientific data to propose policy recommendations for agricultural sustainability.
- Proven track record of working on climate-resilient farming models, developing strategies for risk mitigation, and collaborating with policymakers on agricultural adaptation measures.
- Experience in using data analytics, simulation techniques, and scenario modeling to forecast the long-term impacts of climate change on food security and crop production.
Nationwide Project Execution:
- Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully worked on agricultural projects spanning multiple states across India.
- Experience in managing multi-location research assignments, conducting on-ground surveys, and implementing best practices in different agro-climatic regions.
- Ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, agribusinesses, NGOs, and government officials to ensure effective project execution and policy alignment.
Seeds and Pesticides Industry Expertise:
- Hands-on experience in working with organizations from the seeds and pesticides industry is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, market trends, and R&D innovations in the seed and pesticide sector.
- Experience in analyzing the impact of government policies on seed distribution, pesticide regulations, and sustainable farming practices.
- Understanding of how agrochemicals interact with soil, water, and crops, and the ability to provide insights on improving productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Climate Policy, Agricultural Economics, or related fields.
- Minimum 4-7 years of relevant experience in agricultural research, climate change policy, or advisory services.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with experience in drafting research reports, white papers, and policy briefs.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
