Our client, a global consulting firm, is supporting a leading Indian financial institution in strengthening its micro-banking business. The initiative is focused on enhancing financial inclusion while optimizing the operating model for scale and sustainability.

They are seeking a Senior Micro-Banking Expert with proven expertise in scaling and managing microfinance/micro-banking operations in India. The consultant will play a hands-on role, bringing deep industry insights, shaping strategy, and helping the client implement best practices that will have a direct impact on business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead diagnostic assessments of the clients current micro-banking operating model and recommend actionable improvements

- Provide strategic guidance on branch network expansion, rural customer acquisition, and micro-lending models

- Advise on product design and portfolio management (savings, micro-credit, insurance, and payments) tailored for underserved segments

- Strengthen compliance and risk management frameworks in line with RBI regulations

- Conduct workshops with leadership teams to align on operating models, incentives, and growth pathways

- Mentor internal teams to build long-term leadership and execution capacity

Your Background:

- 15+ years of senior leadership experience in micro-banking, microfinance, or rural banking

- Previous roles such as Head of Micro Banking, Business Head Microfinance, or similar senior leadership positions

- Proven track record in scaling micro-banking businesses profitably in India

- Deep expertise in financial inclusion models, rural distribution, portfolio management, andrisk control

- Prior experience at one of the following institutions strongly preferred: CA Grameen, L&T Financial Services (LTFS), Bandhan Bank, IndusInd Bank, or IDFC First Bank
