Job Purpose
The Senior Manager - External Reporting will be a key member of the Group Finance team, responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of external financial reporting across multiple international markets. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant submission of statutory reports and regulatory filings while collaborating closely with local finance teams, auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IFRS and regional regulatory frameworks, along with leadership skills to influence across a matrixed organization.
Key Accountabilities
External Reporting
- Lead and manage the external reporting process across multiple international operations, ensuring timely submission of statutory accounts and regulatory filings.
- Draft, finalize, and present investor packs and annual reports.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and local GAAP across all entities.
- Partner with in-country finance leads to standardize reporting processes and improve data accuracy.
- Maintain and enhance reporting templates and tools for effective group-level analysis.
- Participate in special projects such as mergers, acquisitions, or capital market transactions.
Statutory Reporting
- Oversee consolidated external quarterly and annual financial statements, including MD&A preparation in accordance with IFRS.
- Monitor and implement emerging IFRS regulations and local reporting requirements.
- Ensure financial data integrity and compliance with company policies, maintaining documentation for audit purposes.
- Collaborate with tax, treasury, compliance, and legal teams for accurate disclosures and alignment with corporate reporting.
- Provide guidance on accounting practices and operational issues.
Managing Strategic Partners
- Maintain strong relationships with strategic partners for operational and accounting alignment.
- Ensure timely release of accounting guidelines and processes for reconciliations and reporting.
- Monitor and highlight any issues requiring attention from governance teams.
Financial Reporting Projects
- Drive automation of reports used for regulatory submissions.
- Release updated accounting guidelines in response to regulatory changes.
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications & Technical Skills:
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACCA, or equivalent required.
- Postgraduate degree in Finance/Accounting preferred.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, including at least 3 years in a regional or group-level role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and multi-entity, multi-country reporting.
- Expertise in accounting tools/software for reporting.
- Exposure to ERP systems (Oracle), MS Excel, and MS Access.
Relevant Experience:
- 8-10 years in high-volume finance environments, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Experience in multinational corporations, shared service centers, or Big 4 firms is advantageous.
- Background in fintech or financial services preferred.
- Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa markets is a plus.
