Lead the development of innovative, plant based protein, formulations, and processes while providing technical and commercial expertise. This role ensures regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, and the delivery of market-driven solutions aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Development and Innovation
- Design and develop new products, formulations, and processes leveraging natural ingredients.
- Create and refine lab prototypes, oversee scale-up processes, and conduct pilot plant trials.
- Generate and assess ideas for new product development, evaluating their feasibility concerning profitability, resource availability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
2. Yield Optimization in Plant Proteins
- Improve yield and efficiency in pea, mung bean, and horse gram protein production using membrane separation technology.
- Optimize protein extraction, ultrafiltration, and downstream processing to maximize recovery and minimize losses.
- Conduct lab-scale and pilot trials, scaling up successful improvements to full-scale production.
3. Process Enhancement and Technology Exploration
- Research and implement advanced processing techniques such as enzyme-assisted extraction, high-shear fractionation, and modified drying technologies.
- Explore scientific literature, patents, and emerging innovations to identify new strategies for yield improvement.
- Collaborate with technical teams to assess and integrate cost-effective and scalable solutions.
4. Byproduct Utilization and Waste Reduction
- Develop methods to recover and repurpose byproducts, such as functional peptides, starches, and fiber fractions.
- Reduce protein loss at key processing stages, ensuring maximum utilization of raw materials.
5. Technical Expertise
- Provide technical leadership in solvent extraction, distillation, isolation, purification, and characterization of spices and herbal products.
- Optimize existing processes by identifying and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
6. Collaboration and Communication
- Partner with Sales, Business Development teams, and Customers to deliver market-relevant products.
- Coordinate with engineering, research, technical, and production teams to ensure seamless product implementation.
- Present data-driven insights, progress reports, and findings to colleagues and stakeholders.
7. Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain meticulous documentation of product development processes and activities.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and internal quality standards for all projects.
- Prepare and review technical papers, reports, and product specifications.
8. Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement
- Record and analyze process performance data to drive refinements and innovation.
- Ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations while implementing process changes.
- Stay informed on the latest scientific advancements, market trends, and competitor products.
9. Supervision and Team Management
- Mentor and supervise junior team members, including technicians.
- Foster team alignment with organizational goals, scientific standards, and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Masters or PhD in Chemistry, Food Technology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in protein-based product development and process optimization.
- Proven track record of leadership in a similar head-level role.
- Deep understanding of protein science, including extraction, isolation, and characterization techniques.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities to inspire and manage cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with global regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
