Business Development Manager - Agri and Food Consulting

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our Agri and Food Consulting team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development within the agriculture and food sector, along with strong strategic, analytical, and relationship-building skills. This role is pivotal in driving the growth and success of our consulting services, expanding our client base, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

1. Business Development Strategy:

- Develop and implement effective business development strategies to achieve growth targets.

- Identify new market opportunities and emerging trends within the agri-food sector.

- Conduct market research to understand client needs and competitive landscape.

- Drive the entire sales cycle from initial customer engagement to closed sale.

- Maintain a high level of domain knowledge in order to have meaningful conversations with the prospects.

- Develop and maintain key account plans to identify opportunities for the organization.

2. Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.

- Conduct client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business deals.

3. Proposal Development and Management:

- Lead the preparation of high-quality proposals, bids, and tenders.

- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored solutions that meet client requirements.

- Ensure timely submission and follow-up on proposals to maximize conversion rates.

4. Service Delivery Oversight:

- Work closely with the consulting team to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

- Monitor project progress, ensuring alignment with client expectations and timelines.

- Address any issues or concerns promptly to maintain client satisfaction.

5. Networking and Industry Engagement:

- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums.

- Build a strong professional network within the agri-food sector.

- Stay updated with industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices.

6. Reporting and Analysis:

- Track and report on business development activities, including pipeline and sales metrics.

- Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

- Provide regular updates to senior management on business development performance.

Qualifications:

1. Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture/Food Science, MBA Marketing or a related field.

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development within the agriculture/ food consulting sector.

2. Skills and Competencies:

- Proven track record of achieving business development targets and driving revenue growth.

- Strong understanding of the agriculture and food industry, including key players, trends, and challenges.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
