Job Summary :
- We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Sales Manager / Business Head - Pulses to lead our pulses trading and sales vertical.
- The role involves driving business growth, developing procurement & trading strategies, managing institutional and domestic sales, and ensuring end-to-end P&L responsibility. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in the agri-commodities sector (especially pulses) with proven leadership in sales, trading, and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Business Growth & Sales Leadership
- Develop and execute strategies to expand the pulses business across domestic, B2B, and institutional markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesalers, distributors, corporates, and institutional buyers.
- Identify new growth opportunities in procurement, trading, and market expansion.
2. P&L Management
- Take full P&L ownership of the pulses trading vertical.
- Monitor margins, working capital, and ensure profitability of the division.
- Implement cost optimization strategies while ensuring business growth.
3. Procurement & Trading
- Lead procurement strategies by engaging with farmers, traders, and suppliers across domestic and international markets.
- Oversee trading operations including price negotiations, volume commitments, and contract finalizations.
- Track market trends, demand-supply dynamics, and global commodity movements to optimize buying and selling decisions.
4. Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Conduct in-depth market analysis for pricing, competitor activities, and policy/regulatory changes in pulses/agri sector.
- Provide data-driven insights and forecasts to support strategic decisions.
- Drive new initiatives for value-added products and expansion in newer geographies.
5. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor the sales, procurement, and trading teams to achieve revenue targets.
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and logistics teams for seamless execution of contracts.
- Ensure adherence to compliance, risk management, and quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- 10+ years of experience in B2B sales, procurement, or trading in pulses, grains, or agri-commodities sector.
- Strong knowledge of pulses market (domestic & global), procurement practices, and supply chain dynamics.
- Proven experience in P&L management with focus on profitability and growth.
- Excellent negotiation, networking, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to analyze market data, pricing trends, and trading opportunities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- MBA/PGDM (preferred) or Graduate in Agriculture/Agri-Business, or related fields.
