About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of Safety to lead our EHS initiatives for a high-speed rail project in Ahmedabad. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring a zero-incident culture and maintaining the highest safety standards throughout all phases of construction.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale, high-risk construction projects and a deep understanding of safety regulations in the Indian context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee the EHS strategy and management system for the entire high-speed rail project.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all Indian safety, health, and environmental regulations. Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry best practices.
- Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement robust control measures to mitigate hazards in a high-risk construction environment.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of EHS professionals and site safety officers. Foster a proactive and collaborative safety culture.
- Incident Management: Develop and implement effective crisis handling and emergency response plans. Lead investigations into all incidents and near-misses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment on safety goals and performance.
- Training & Audits: Organize and conduct safety training programs and regular site audits to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience: 19+ years of progressive experience in EHS roles within the industrial construction sector.
- Background: Must have a strong background working with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and contracting organizations.
- Experience on large infrastructure or high-speed rail projects is highly desirable.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) is mandatory.
- Certifications: Preference will be given to candidates holding professional safety certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISO 45001/14001 Auditor.
