Background - FMCG Business:
RPSG FMCG Business has made strong initial inroads by creating a new segment of snacks in the Indian market, with its brand "Too Yumm" In a short period the brand has established itself across India as a strong choice vis a vis of traditional fried. This was possible by bold investments in product design and go to market.
The division also has forayed into traditional snacks and Ayurveda ( Dr Vaidya's). The group is now in earnest to build the FMCG business in India through bold organic growth and acquisitions.
Position Overview:
The Packaging Sourcing Manager will be responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier management of packaging materials used in our product lines Primary & Secondary Packaging . This role will require strong knowledge of the packaging supply chain, vendor negotiations, Vendor development, Budgeting , hands on experience in SAP . The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for cost optimization and quality assurance while ensuring the timely delivery of packaging materials that meet company and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sourcing & Procurement :
- Develop and execute a comprehensive packaging sourcing strategy to meet business needs.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with packaging suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, high quality, and supply reliability.
- Manage end-to-end procurement for packaging materials, including negotiation of contracts, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Use Digital Procurement Techniques , Reverse Auction , RFQ
2. Supplier Management :
- Build and maintain strong relationships with packaging suppliers and manufacturers.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, cost, or delivery.
- Conduct periodic supplier audits to ensure compliance with company standards, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements.
3. Cost Management & Optimization :
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for packaging optimization.
- Analyze market trends to predict price fluctuations and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Ensure all packaging meets the balance of cost efficiency and product protection.
4. Collaboration & Coordination :
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams including product development, marketing, and quality control to ensure packaging meets the needs of the business.
- Support packaging innovation and product development by providing packaging solutions that align with brand strategy and design requirements.
- Ensure that packaging designs are feasible for production and distribution while meeting regulatory requirements.
5. Data Analysis & Reporting :
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to packaging sourcing.
- Track and analyze supplier performance, costs, inventory, and quality metrics.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management regarding sourcing activities, cost savings, and packaging performance.
- Making Annual Budget (AOP) for packaging.
Qualification & Key Skills Required
- Exposure to SCM in FMCG environment
- An MBA or PGDM in Sourcing, Packaging, or a related field is preferred.
- Packaging/Sourcing experience in foods segment preferred.
- Work ex of min 4 years post qualification
