Position Name: Senior Business Development Manager
Location: Gurgaon, Haryana
Position Overview:
This is a strategic state-specific leadership position responsible for spearheading and overseeing all Business Development (BD) and liaison activities across all company verticals within the state. The Business Development Head/Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth objectives by identifying, cultivating, and securing new business opportunities, particularly with Government clients. This role requires a hands-on leader who can not only formulate strategic plans but also ensure their effective implementation at the state level, contributing directly to the company's overall business plans and market expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic BD & Liaison Management:
- Develop, plan, organize, and lead the entire Business Development function within the state, taking full ownership of targets and outcomes.
- Establish and maintain robust liaison with key Government departments, public sector undertakings, and regulatory bodies, particularly within the Road Transport and Road Safety sectors.
- Identify and track new business opportunities, tenders, and projects within the state, developing a strong pipeline for sustainable growth.
- Represent the company effectively at various forums, meetings, and events to enhance brand visibility and foster strategic relationships.
Market Intelligence & Analysis:
- Continuously monitor and analyze daily developments, policy changes, and emerging trends within State Transport Departments and other relevant government agencies.
- Conduct comprehensive market research to understand client needs, competitive landscape, and potential areas for service expansion.
Sales & Marketing Team Guidance:
- Provide strong leadership and strategic guidance to the sales and marketing teams to develop a robust customer base.
- Support the relationship management efforts for existing key strategic customers and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
- Drive the exploration and penetration of new markets and regions within the state, identifying untapped potential.
Financial Management & Budgeting:
- Formulate and manage comprehensive budgets for the Business Development department, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure effective implementation of BD strategies within budgetary constraints.
Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
- Build, nurture, and maintain excellent long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within government agencies and strategic customer organizations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for high-level interactions, facilitating smooth communication and collaboration.
Policy & Strategy Formulation:
- Contribute to the formulation of regional business policies and development of new strategies and procedures aligned with the company's overall objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory rules and regulations relevant to the business operations, especially concerning Road Transport and Road Safety.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Mentor, train, and develop the BD and liaison team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on achieving targets.
- Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Qualifications:
Education: Post Graduation with a Management degree from a reputed institution is mandatory.
Experience:
- Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in Business Development, Sales, or Management roles.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role, specifically managing general liaison, business development, and relationship management with Government clients is essential.
- Proven track record of successfully securing and managing large-scale projects with government agencies.
Skills & Competencies:
- Business Development Acumen: Excellent knowledge and proven track record of managing BD activities, with a strong preference for experience with Government agencies.
- Liaison Expertise: In-depth knowledge of liaison planning, execution, and maintaining strong government relations.
- Negotiation & Contracting: Proficient in contracting, negotiating, and change management processes within a corporate and government context.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Demonstrated ability in formulating policy, developing, and implementing new strategies and procedures. Possesses strong strategic orientation, analytical and lateral thinking abilities.
- Business Acumen: Excellent business acumen, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of statutory rules and regulations, preferably with specific knowledge related to Road Transport and Road Safety sectors.
- Communication & Presentation: Exceptional planning & organizing skills, coupled with effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
