Regulatory Affairs Specialist - Plant Construction & Operations

Job Description:
My Client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Regulatory Affairs Specialist to play a crucial role in our upcoming plant construction and ongoing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for securing all necessary permits and licenses, ensuring continuous compliance with environmental and other relevant regulations, and acting as a key liaison with government authorities. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved from the ground up and contribute significantly to the successful establishment and operation of our new facility.
Responsibilities:
Permit & License Acquisition:
- Identify and obtain all necessary permits and licenses required for the construction and operation of the industrial plant from relevant local, state, and central government authorities.
- This includes environmental permits, construction permits, operating licenses, and any other statutory clearances.
Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure the project design, construction, and operational processes adhere to all applicable environmental regulations, including emissions standards, waste management protocols, effluent discharge guidelines, and environmental impact assessments.
Government Liaison:
- Act as the primary point of contact with various government agencies, regulatory bodies, and local authorities. Build and maintain strong working relationships to facilitate the smooth processing of applications, address queries, and ensure project alignment with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Monitoring & Reporting:
- Continuously monitor changes in environmental laws, regulations, and other relevant statutory requirements that may impact the project.
- Analyze the potential implications and proactively communicate these changes to the project team and management. Prepare and submit regular compliance reports as required.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Maintain meticulous records of all permits, licenses, approvals, communications with regulatory bodies, and compliance documentation. Ensure all documents are organized and readily accessible.
Internal Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, construction, operations, and other internal teams to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into all stages of the project lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and ongoing operations.
Audits & Inspections:
- Facilitate and coordinate regulatory audits and inspections, ensuring timely responses to any findings and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Law, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of proven experience in regulatory affairs, environmental compliance, or a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing setting. Experience with plant construction projects is highly desirable.
- Thorough understanding of relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes in India
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with government authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and translate them into actionable steps.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
