Job Overview:


The Assistant Vice President (AVP) / Vice President (VP) of Contracts & Commercial at RattanIndia Power Limited will be responsible for overseeing the procurement, contract closure management, and insurance operations related to the companys power generation assets (both thermal and renewable energy). This role demands a seasoned professional with extensive experience in managing day to day activities & capex & opex contracts, ensuring compliance, and driving cost-effective strategies across commercial functions in the energy sector.


Key Responsibilities:


Contract Management & Negotiations:


- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of purchase contract management for large-scale power generation projects including negotiation of mega power plant, insurance policy & premium, GMC Policy, GPA policy &settlement claims.

- Manage the negotiation and drafting of AMC operation & Maintenance contracts with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.

- Ensure contracts closure are aligned with business objectives and risk management strategies.

- Provide strategic oversight on contract disputes, claims management, and resolution & amicable solution of contracts/order closure.


Procurement Strategy & Oversight:


- Oversee the entire procurement process to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services required for the (AOH & COH) and overhauling of 5 Units of 270 MW coal base thermal power plant.

- Good knowledge of GST & Import & export policies.

- Good knowledge of insurance claims & settlement of claims with insurance companies.

- Develop cost-effective procurement strategies that adhere to industry standards and RattanIndias operational goals.

- Build and manage relationships with key suppliers and service providers to ensure best-in-class services and equipment are delivered.


Commercial Operations:


- Manage commercial operations for power plant projects, ensuring alignment with financial and operational targets.

- Develop internal pricing costing strategies and financial models to optimize profitability and cash flow.

- Identify commercial risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the companys interests.


Team Leadership & Development:


- Lead a team of purchase & store & contract and commercial professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.

- Foster a collaborative work culture that drives innovation, efficiency, and high standards of contract/ purchase/ store compliance and execution.


Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:


- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements governing labour law commercial and contractual litigation.

- Stay updated on national and international labour laws, industry standards, and policies affecting the power generation sector.

- Lead risk assessments and implement processes to minimize financial and legal risks related to contract agreements.


Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:


- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, to provide regular updates on day to day contract and commercial matters.

- Report to top management on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to purchase/insurance claim/ contract performance, procurement, and commercial operations.


Required Skills:


- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the power generation industry, including both thermal and renewable energy sectors.

- Contract Negotiation Expertise: Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing large, complex contracts (EPC, O&M, supply contracts, etc.).

- Commercial Acumen: Ability to identify commercial opportunities, risks, and value drivers. Strong understanding of financial modeling and cost-benefit analysis. Mega Power plant operational insurance policies & claims settlements.

- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities to manage, mentor, and motivate teams to achieve operational and strategic goals.

- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing the energy sector and experience in ensuring compliance across all commercial activities.

- Strategic Thinking: Ability to devise and implement commercial strategies to enhance profitability while ensuring long-term sustainability.

- Risk Management: Expertise in identifying and mitigating contractual and Insurance risks.

- Vendor Management: Ability to manage and maintain relationships with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.

- Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and standards governing procurement, contracts, and commercial operations.

- Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels.

- Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with SAP management software, Tally, procurement tools, and project management software to enhance efficiency.


Preferred Skills:


- Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) or relevant higher education.

- Experience in handling large infrastructure projects, especially in the energy or power generation sector.

- Experience in renewable energy projects and technologies.

- Strong financial and commercial analysis skills with the ability to understand P&L statements, budgeting, and financial forecasting.

- Knowledge of global best practices in purchase management and contract management procurement & capex/ Opex / & OEM Spares.


Work Environment & Expectations:


- Full-time position, with travel to project sites and client locations as required.

- The role demands high-level strategic thinking and hands-on involvement in complex projects.

- Strong commitment to high standards of professionalism, ethics, and performance.
