- We have a requirement for Quality Head - Aerospace Industry (Preferred) position with a Global provider of Instrumentation Products & Services for a wide variety of industrial applications Based @ Pune, Chakan

- BE with 5 to 10 years of experience. Masters degree preferred / Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field with 15 to 25 years of experience.


Job Description:


- We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Quality Head to lead our Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions within the aerospace industry in India.


- The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of quality systems, compliance, and process improvement methodologies.


- As a key member of the leadership team, you will ensure that our products meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance while driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership:


- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with the companys vision and objectives.


- Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the organization.


Quality Assurance and Compliance:


- Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, regulations, and certifications (e.g., AS9100, DGCA, EASA, ISO).


- Oversee internal and external audits and manage relationships with Indian regulatory bodies such as DGCA and other relevant authorities.


- Monitor and ensure adherence to quality policies, procedures, and best practices.


Process Improvement:


- Drive the implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality improvement initiatives.


- Analyze quality metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.


Team Leadership:


- Lead and mentor the quality team, fostering professional growth and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.


- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to integrate quality into all aspects of operations.


Supplier and Vendor Management:


- Establish and maintain robust supplier quality systems.


- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.


Risk Management:


- Identify and mitigate risks related to product quality and regulatory compliance.


- Develop contingency plans to address potential quality issues.


Qualifications & Experience:


- Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.


- Masters degree preferred.


- Experience: 10+ years of experience in quality management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the aerospace industry. Familiarity with Indias aerospace regulatory framework and standards


Technical Skills:


- In-depth knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulations (AS9100, DGCA, EASA, ISO).


- Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.


- Strong analytical skills with expertise in quality metrics and statistical analysis tools.


- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques and technologies, including digital quality systems.


Behavioral Competencies:


- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.


- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.


- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.


- Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.


Certifications:


- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) or Lean Six Sigma certification.


- AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.


- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred).


- DGCA-related certifications (preferred)


Technical Expertise:


- Inspection of components like Fittings, Valves, and pipe and Tube assemblies aircraft hydraulics systems.


Material Compliance:


- Verification of materials for corrosion resistance, temperature tolerance, and fatigue resistance. Adherence to standards such as AMS (Aerospace Material Specifications) or

MIL-SPEC.


- Use of advanced testing methods like hydrostatic testing or non-destructive testing (NDT).


Regulatory Standards:


- Compliance with AS9100, FAA, EASA, NADCAP and other aerospace-specific certifications.


- Ensuring parts meet environmental regulations (e.g., REACH or RoHS).


Performance Testing:


- Simulation of extreme flight conditions to verify hydraulic system performance under varying pressures, temperatures, and load conditions. Validation of redundancy and fail-safe mechanisms.


Failure Analysis and Prevention:


- Use of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to pre-emptively address potential hydraulic failures. Root cause analysis of defects and implementation of corrective actions.


Supply Chain Quality:


- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure hydraulic parts meet strict tolerances and quality standards. Conduct supplier audits and establish strong traceability for every component.


Assembly and Integration:


- Overseeing the assembly of hydraulic systems to ensure proper fit, function, and cleanliness.


- Monitoring torque, sealing, and calibration during system integration.


Documentation and Traceability:


- Maintain detailed records for every hydraulic component, including serial numbers, lot numbers, and test results. Ensure readiness for audits by regulatory bodies or customers.


Skills Expertise:


Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):


- Ultrasonic, X-ray, and dye penetrant testing for internal defects.


- ASQ certifications (like CQE or CQA) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.


Resource Allocation:


- Efficiently allocate human and material resources to meet deadlines and milestones.


Change Management:


- Navigate changes in scope, schedule, or technical requirements effectively.


Risk Management:


- Proactively identify, analyze, and manage project risks.


Leadership & Communication:


Team Leadership:


- Motivate and manage diverse teams, including engineers, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.


Stakeholder Engagement:


- Communicate effectively with executives, customers, and external partners.


Conflict Resolution:


- Handle disputes within the team or with clients diplomatically and constructively.


Decision-Making:


- Make informed decisions under pressure, often with incomplete information.


Cross-Cultural Communication:


- Work effectively with global teams and customers.


Business Acumen:


Market Awareness:


- Understand trends and competitive landscapes in aerospace and defence sectors.


Contract Management:


- Knowledge of contract types (e.g., fixed-price, cost-plus) and negotiation skills.


Customer Focus:


- Deliver results aligned with customer expectations and contractual obligations.


Performance Metrics:


- Use KPIs to measure success and adjust program execution accordingly.
