Job Description: Project Director - EPC | Infrastructure, Renewable Energy & Special Projects
Location: Mumbai / Jamnagar HQ + Pan-India Sites
About the Role:
We are looking for a seasoned Project Director / Head of Projects (EPC) with a track record of managing large-scale, complex civil, mechanical, and renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading turnkey EPC projects from bidding to final execution, while also building internal teams and vendor ecosystems to support the company's rapid growth across infrastructure, solar, wind, and heavy construction sectors.
This is a leadership role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with commercial acumen and can own the full project lifecycle while also institutionalizing systems, teams, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Execution:
- End-to-end ownership of projects from concept, bidding, budgeting, planning, procurement, and execution to final commissioning.
- Deliver projects across segments: solar & wind parks, high-rise buildings, industrial townships, heavy PEB structures, MEP, piping, utility works, roads, drains, and site infra.
- Lead interdisciplinary execution: civil, mechanical, electrical, and fabrication.
Organizational Development & Team Building:
- Recruit, train, and mentor a strong project management team (PMs, engineers, planners, QA/QC, safety, billing).
- Design project execution workflows, roles, and escalation systems across multiple sites.
- Build and manage a pool of site engineers, construction managers, supervisors, and project coordinators.
Vendor Bank Expansion & Procurement Ecosystem:
- Identify, qualify, and onboard reliable contractors and vendors across India for civil, structural, electrical, PEB, fabrication, and finishing works.
- Build a centralized vendor management system with rate benchmarking, capacity mapping, and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to optimize quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
Commercial Management & Profitability:
- Prepare detailed BOQs, project budgets, and cost control strategies.
- Monitor cash flow, billing cycles, change orders, and profitability metrics.
- Ensure legal, commercial, and technical compliance in contracts and vendor negotiations.
Client & Stakeholder Interface:
- Serve as the single point of contact for clients, consultants, and senior management.
- Manage escalations, approvals, and cross-functional coordination with internal stakeholders and external agencies.
- Represent the company in reviews, audits, and project handovers.
Key Projects You Will Lead:
- Turnkey utility-scale solar & wind parks
- Complex PEB & mechanical structures
- Industrial township and high-rise civil works
- Pipe racks, MEP-heavy utility networks, underground cabling and drainage
- Roads, bunds, culverts, stormwater drains, and site development infrastructure
Candidate Profile:
Experience:
- 15-25 years of experience in leading EPC/infrastructure projects across civil, mechanical, and renewable energy sectors.
- Proven track record of managing - 100-500 Cr+ projects (public & private sector).
- Experience in both execution and strategic planning roles; must have handled team sizes of 50+ across multiple functions.
Education:
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- MBA or PMP certification is a plus but not mandatory.
Key Skills:
- Project planning (Primavera/MSP), BOQ estimation, contracts, billing, vendor development.
- Strong leadership, delegation, and team-building skills.
- Ability to work across fast-paced, multi-project environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
