Podar - Senior Freight Procurement Specialist - Special Equipment

We are looking for a seasoned Freight Procurement Specialist with deep expertise in special equipment and project cargo handling. This role is critical in securing the right carriers, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring smooth, cost-effective transportation for oversized, sensitive, or high-value shipments. The successful candidate will bring strong industry networks, strategic thinking, and a proven track record in delivering optimal freight solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead freight procurement activities, with a focus on specialized equipment such as reefer containers, flat racks, open tops, and heavy-lift gear.

- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that deliver cost savings while maintaining service quality.

- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and logistics partners.

- Build and nurture long-term vendor relationships to ensure capacity and favorable terms.

- Collaborate closely with supply chain, production, and logistics teams to meet shipping timelines.

- Monitor market trends, freight rates, and carrier performance for continuous improvement.

- Ensure full compliance with trade regulations, safety standards, and customs requirements.

Candidate Profile

- 8-10 years of hands-on freight procurement experience, preferably in shipping lines, freight forwarding, or large-scale manufacturing (end user).

- Demonstrated experience in special equipment and project cargo procurement.

- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and vendor management expertise.

- Knowledge of international shipping documentation, Incoterms, and global trade regulations.

- Background in white goods, heavy equipment, or manufacturing industries is an advantage.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
