Operations Director - Garment/Textile Industry

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Reporting & Transparency

- Develop robust systems for data tracking and performance metrics, enabling real-time insights and confident decision-making.

- Provide clear, regular, and accurate reporting of all factory operations to the UK Directors, ensuring visibility across production, quality, staffing, and capacity.

- Act as the key point of contact between the Indian factory and UK stakeholders, facilitating smooth communication and issue resolution.

Production & Workflow Management

- Oversee end-to-end garment manufacturing operations including procurement, cutting, stitching, embroidery, finishing, quality, and dispatch.

- Ensure production targets are consistently met in terms of quality, quantity, and timelines.

- Monitor production lines to identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies quickly and effectively.

Procurement & Supply Chain

- Manage planning and procurement to ensure availability of materials to meet the forecasted production needs.

- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, WIP and finished garments; lead times and delivery schedules to avoid disruption or delays.

- Work with key suppliers and logistics partners to maintain continuity and service standards.

Quality Control & Compliance

- Maintain a high focus on quality standards, ensuring garments meet customer requirements, expectations and specifications.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including health and safety standards, local labour laws, ethical trading practices and import/export regulations.

- Oversee quality control to find the cause of any defects and implement corrective action plans.

- Establish and implement clear quality checkpoints and compliance processes at each stage of production.

Continuous Improvement

- Drive continuous improvement and lead initiatives across all relevant departments to establish best practice manufacturing methods.

- Identify and implement process enhancements to reduce costs and waste, improve workflow, and increase on-time, in-full delivery.

- Managing budgets and achieving cost-saving objectives while maintaining quality standards

Team Leadership & Development

- Provide day-to-day leadership to managers, supervisors and through them, the wider workforce.

- Set clear performance and behaviour expectations, providing guidance and monitoring the management of performance metrics.

- Identify training needs and support the growth of the workforce to build capability and succession.

Key Requirements:

- Qualifications: A degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Garment Technology, Textile Manufacturing, or related field. An MBA or relevant post-graduate degree is a plus.

- Experience: 10 years' experience in factory operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management position. Manufacturing and supply chain management experience is essential, preferably in a garment or textile industry.

- Leadership: Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing large, cross-functional teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to build effective working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and UK team.

Skills:

- In-depth knowledge of materials management, procurement, logistics, inventory management and supplier management.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

- Proficiency in Hindi and English (spoken and written) for reporting to UK stakeholders

- High attention to detail, ethical integrity, and sound commercial judgment

- Ability to foster a respectful and collaborative working environment, focusing on performance and productivity.
