We are looking forMequity fund manager who specialize in value-oriented, risk-controlled investments, prioritizing opportunities with asymmetric payoffs and have a well-proven, verifiable track record.
The ideal candidate should preferably demonstrate the conviction to hold long-term investments and aim for outsized risk-adjusted returns, while also being adept at seizing tactical market opportunities as they arise - resulting in superior post-tax and fee-adjusted returns for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management:
- Design and manage equity portfolios (PMS/AIF mandates) with a focus on long-term compounding, margin of safety, and downside protection.
- Define and execute the fund's investment philosophy, asset allocation, and stock-picking framework.
- Maintain concentrated, high-conviction portfolios with deep research-backed ideas.
- Ensure active portfolio rebalancing based on valuations, business changes, or risk triggers.
Research Leadership & Idea Generation:
- Independently generate investment ideas through fundamental research, industry tracking, and valuation analysis.
- Deep-dive into balance sheets, annual reports, concalls, and channel checks to build robust financial models.
- Lead internal investment discussions, challenge assumptions, and foster a collaborative research culture.
- Identify and build thematic or sectoral frameworks (e.g., capital goods, specialty chemicals, CDMO, financials, industrials, etc.).
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Monitor portfolio-level risk metrics (sector concentration, position sizing, liquidity, beta, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with SEBI PMS/AIF regulations and Oaklane's internal risk management framework.
- Implement stop-loss, position-exit, and red-flag protocols where necessary.
- Collaborate with compliance and operations teams to ensure clean execution and audit trails.
Client Communication & Thought Leadership:
- Present portfolio rationale, positioning, and updates to clients, RMs, and internal stakeholders.
- Draft investor notes, quarterly commentaries, and periodic thought pieces to articulate fund strategy and insights.
- Engage in webinars, investor calls, and industry events as the face of the fund.
- Uphold Oaklane's values of transparency, clarity, and fiduciary responsibility.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- MBA (Finance) / CFA Charterholder / CA / or equivalent advanced financial credentials.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in Indian capital markets, including at least 6 years in independent fund management with a closing AUM of at least $100 million is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience of managing larger funds for longer periods of time.
- Proven ability to exceed benchmark performance by at least 5% post-tax and fees on a rolling basis, with a preference for consistent performance over larger scale and longer duration, supported by an audited performance record.
- Capable of implementing unique strategies, avoiding the herd mentality.
- A finance degree such as Chartered Accountant (CA), CFA, or an MBA from a prestigious institution is preferred.
- Demonstrates high levels of integrity and has an impeccable track record in adhering to regulatory requirements.
