Mortgage Underwriter

Position: US Mortgage Underwriter (Live UW)

Experience: 1-4 years in US Mortgage Underwriting (Live/Loan Level)

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

- Review loan files for completeness and accuracy before live underwriting.

- Analyze borrowers income, assets, employment, credit, and collateral to assess eligibility.

- Perform underwriting for FHA, VA, Conventional, and other US mortgage loan products under investor and agency guidelines.

- Work on DU/LP findings and validate supporting documentation.

- Raise and clear underwriting conditions in coordination with processors and loan officers.

- Ensure compliance with federal, state, investor, and client regulations.

- Maintain required productivity levels and turnaround times (TAT).

- Escalate red flags, fraud indicators, or exceptions to senior underwriters / team leads.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Good understanding of US mortgage lifecycle and loan products.

- Hands-on experience in Live Underwriting (preferred) or exposure to Pre- Underwriting/Support.

- Knowledge of DU/LP automated underwriting systems.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Accuracy and attention to detail.

- Good communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree (Finance/Business/Accounting preferred).

- 1-4 years of experience in US Mortgage Underwriting (Live/Loan Level).

- DE/SAR certification (an advantage but not mandatory).

- Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS) such as Encompass, Calyx, etc.
