Role Overview:
We are looking for a results-driven and experienced Reinsurance Underwriting Professional to lead and manage operations related to assumed reinsurance. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Property & Casualty (P&C) Reinsurance, with exposure to both Treaty and Facultative reinsurance arrangements. This is a leadership role that demands operational excellence, global stakeholder engagement, and a strong understanding of reinsurance contract structures and underwriting support processes.
The successful candidate will manage a team of professionals, ensure delivery of high-quality reinsurance operations, and collaborate closely with underwriters, brokers, and clients across geographies.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead and manage a team supporting reinsurance underwriting operations, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery.
- Develop team capabilities, assign priorities, and ensure adherence to SLAs and quality standards.
- Drive a high-performance culture, mentor team members, and lead by example.
Contract Analysis & Interpretation:
- Review and interpret Treaty and Facultative reinsurance contracts across multiple P&C lines of business.
- Evaluate terms, conditions, pricing structures, and special clauses to determine risk exposures and profitability.
- Translate complex contract language into actionable insights for underwriting teams.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the setup and maintenance of policies and reinsurance programs in relevant systems.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit requirements, and best practices in reinsurance operations.
- Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation or efficiency initiatives.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with underwriters, actuaries, brokers, and clients to support business goals.
- Maintain clear and timely communication across internal and external stakeholders globally.
- Represent the operations function in strategic discussions and initiatives with senior leadership.
Key Capabilities and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of assumed reinsurance and policy lifecycle in both Treaty and Facultative reinsurance.
- Proven team leadership experience with global teams, including performance management and mentorship.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex contracts and underwriting documentation.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, especially in drafting client/stakeholder correspondence.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and reporting.
- Comfortable working across different time zones and cultures, with flexibility as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field (Insurance, Finance, Business, or related discipline).
- 8+ years of experience in reinsurance operations or underwriting support, including at least 4 years in a leadership role.
- Prior experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) Re/Insurance is mandatory.
- Experience working with global stakeholders and clients is highly desirable.
