Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional proficient in laws of indirect taxation to join the Legal team as an Indirect Taxation professional. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of GST (Goods and Services Tax) and other indirect tax laws in India, coupled with a proven track record in both litigation and advisory roles. Responsibilities. Advisory Services: - Provide advice & guidance on indirect tax matters, including structuring of transactions, and tax planning. - Conduct thorough research and analysis of complex tax issues to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and optimize tax efficiency. - Assist in identifying potential tax risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities. Litigation Support:. - Represent & assist law firms, advocates, senior advocate etc. in indirect tax disputes before tax authorities, appellate tribunals, and courts at various levels. - Prepare appeals, petitions, and other legal documents. - Keep abreast of developments, changes in tax laws, and judicial precedents having implications on the business operations. Qualifications/ Experience:. - Bachelor's degree in Law with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in indirect taxation, with a focus on both litigation (primary) and advisory aspects. - In-depth knowledge of Indian indirect tax laws, particularly GST, customs duty, excise duty, and service tax. - Added knowledge of Direct taxation would be a considered a plus. - Proven track record of handling indirect tax disputes and litigation proceedings, including representation before tax authorities and appellate forums. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner. - Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
