Job Purpose:


The Head of Crew Management is responsible for overseeing all aspects of crew planning, recruitment, training, scheduling, performance monitoring, and compliance within the logistics operations. This role ensures that all crew-related activities are aligned with the companys operational goals and statutory requirements, with a focus on efficiency, safety, and service excellence.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Planning & Crew Allocation:


- Develop and implement strategies for optimal crew utilization across logistics operations.

- Forecast manpower requirements based on operational plans and seasonal variations.

- Ensure effective crew rostering and route assignments to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.

Crew Recruitment & Onboarding:


- Lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for all logistics crew (drivers, warehouse staff, loaders, etc.).

- Collaborate with HR and talent acquisition teams to attract qualified candidates.

Training & Development:


- Design and oversee training programs related to safety, compliance, customer service, and technical skills.

- Ensure periodic refresher training and upskilling initiatives.

Performance Management:


- Monitor and evaluate crew performance using KPIs (e.g., delivery times, incident rates, attendance).

- Implement incentive and disciplinary measures in accordance with company policy.

Compliance & Safety:


- Ensure all crew members comply with local labor laws, transport regulations, and company policies.

- Oversee health and safety programs, including incident reporting and investigation.

Technology & Systems:


- Utilize fleet and crew management systems to track performance and productivity.

- Ensure data accuracy and use analytics to drive decision-making.

Stakeholder Coordination:


- Liaise with operations, customer service, fleet management, and HR teams for seamless execution.

- Serve as the point of contact for escalation of crew-related issues.


Qualifications & Experience:


- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).

- 15 years+ of experience in logistics or transportation, with at least 4 years in a managerial role handling crews.

- Strong knowledge of transportation laws, labor compliance, and logistics operations.

- Experience in managing large teams across multiple locations.

- Proficiency in crew/fleet management software and MS Office.
