The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Team Lead to spearhead our Regulatory Compliance efforts within our SAP EHS environment. This critical leadership role requires a deep understanding of chemical industry regulations, extensive hands-on experience with SAP EHS, and proven success in managing and developing a large team. As the Team Lead for Regulatory Compliance, you will be instrumental in ensuring our organization adheres to all relevant local, national, and international regulations, maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Manage the Regulatory Compliance Team: Provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of at least 14 regulatory compliance professionals. This includes setting team goals, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Oversee all aspects of regulatory compliance related to our chemical products, processes, and operations, ensuring adherence to relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., REACH, GHS, local environmental permits, transportation regulations).
- SAP EHS Expertise: Leverage deep expertise in SAP EHS modules (e.g., Product Safety, Dangerous Goods Management, Waste Management, Industrial Hygiene and Safety) to manage regulatory data, generate compliance documents (e.g., Safety Data Sheets - SDS), and ensure system accuracy.
- Interpretation and Implementation of Regulations: Stay abreast of evolving chemical industry regulations and interpret their impact on our business. Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure proactive compliance.
- Liaison with Regulatory Authorities: Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and participate in audits, inspections, and information requests.
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., Production, R&D, Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing) to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into all relevant business processes.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the organization.
- Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to employees on relevant regulatory requirements and SAP EHS processes.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of all regulatory compliance documentation and records within SAP EHS and other relevant systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in our regulatory compliance processes and SAP EHS utilization.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present reports on regulatory compliance status and key performance indicators to management.
Required Qualifications:
- Industry Experience: Minimum 11 years and maximum 17 years of direct experience working in Regulatory Compliance within the Chemical Industry. Candidates with experience outside the chemical industry will not be considered.
- SAP EHS Expertise: Proven deep and hands-on experience with SAP Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) modules, including configuration, data management, and report generation.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of relevant chemical industry regulations (local, national, and international), including but not limited to environmental regulations, safety standards, and product compliance requirements.
- Team Leadership Experience: Mandatory experience in leading and managing a team of at least 14 direct reports, including performance management, coaching, and development.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with regulatory authorities, internal stakeholders, and team members.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical solutions. -
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in English: Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
