The Insurance Information Bureau of India (IIB), established under IRDAI, plays a key role in collecting, processing, and analysing data to support the growth and governance of India's insurance sector
Purpose:
The Senior Data Scientist will drive business insights, mentor junior scientists, and lead data-driven strategies. Analyze data to support growth, define key challenges, and guide ML development for long-term impact.
Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis & Insights Analyze large insurance datasets to identify trends, patterns, and risk factors, supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Model Development Design and implement machine learning models and predictive analytics to enhance fraud detection, risk assessment, and policy optimization.
- Data Processing & Management Clean, preprocess, and structure raw insurance data for accurate analysis and reporting.
- Business Intelligence & Reporting Develop BI dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI to present key insurance metrics to stakeholders.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders Work with regulatory bodies, insurers, and policymakers to provide insights that improve industry governance and operations.
- Fraud Detection & Risk Mitigation Use advanced analytics to detect fraudulent claims, assess underwriting risks, and improve policy pricing models.
- Big Data & Cloud Computing Leverage big data technologies and cloud platforms for scalable data processing and storage.
- Innovation & Continuous Learning Stay updated with emerging data science methodologies and integrate the latest advancements to enhance insurance analytics.
Skills:
- Hands-on experience in data analytics, data science, machine learning, deep learning
- Proven ability in using exploratory analysis and preparing structured and unstructured data to draw conclusions
- Ability to lead machine learning projects and modeling initiatives
- Fluency in Python and SQL for data science
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis, cleaning and preparation
- Understanding of machine learning, deep learning and modeling tools
- Expertise in programming and scripting languages (C++, Java, Python, R, Scala, SAS, SQL) - Experience with statistical analysis and modeling techniques
