General Manager Plant Head (Tank Division)

LOCATION: Khopoli, Maharashtra


JOB DESCRIPTION:


The General Manager Plant Head, is responsible for the end-to-end management of the Tank Divisions multisite operations. You will drive strategic growth through digital transformationincluding the deployment of robotic processes, lean process improvements, and sustainable practices. You will also be accountable for workforce management and skill development, cost reduction initiatives, and maintaining plant safety along with ESG and regulatory compliance. This role requires clear decision-making authority, global exposure, and a commitment to excellence.


QUALIFICATIONS:


EXPERIENCE:


- 25+ years of progressive leadership in fabrication, transformer tank manufacturing, or heavy metal engineering.

- Proven multisite management, cost control, and revenue growth experience are essential.


INDUSTRY:


- Metal Fabrication / Heavy Metal Fabrication.

- Preferred background from Transformer Tank Manufacturing, Heavy Engineering & Fabrication, Power & Energy Equipment, Oil & Gas Equipment, Railway & Heavy Vehicle Manufacturing, Shipbuilding & Marine Fabrication, or Steel & Metal Fabrication.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Operational Leadership & Strategic Direction:


- Oversee production across multiple sites:

- R1 (Rabale): Tank fabrication (design to final assembly)

- K4 (Khopoli): Raw material cutting and component production

- K3 (Khopoli): Painting operations ensuring quality finishes

- K2 (Khopoli): Galvanizing to secure long-term durability

- Wood Plant (Khopoli): Packaging for export

- Align operations with the companys vision and long-term strategic goals.

- Drive change initiatives to ensure perpetual and profitable growth and achieve total customer satisfaction.


Workforce Management & Skill Development:


- Recruit, mentor, and develop a highly skilled workforce.

- Implement continuous training and leadership development programs.

- Foster a culture of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion.


Cost Reduction & Efficiency:


- Develop and execute cost reduction strategies without compromising quality.

- Monitor production costs and optimise resource consumption.


Digital Transformation & Robotic Integration:


- Deploy advanced digital tools, including ERP systems, Industry 4.0 solutions, and robotic processes to streamline operations.

- Leverage digital transformation success stories to drive operational improvements.


Plant Management, Safety, ESG & Compliance:


- Enforce robust plant safety protocols and ensure strict adherence to ESG standards.

- Ensure compliance with all environmental, social, and regulatory requirements.

- Implement safety training and emergency response plans.


Financial & Project Management:


- Oversee budgeting, cost control, and revenue management to achieve annual targets (250 Cr+).

- Lead major capital projects and process transitions while managing risks and crises.


Global Strategy & Market Expansion:


- Contribute to the companys global strategy and engage in international collaborations.

- Maintain strong relationships with global stakeholders and drive market expansion initiatives.


Performance Management & Recognition:


- Establish and monitor KPIs (e.g., production uptime, first-pass yield, cost savings).

- Implement recognition programs to reward operational excellence and innovation.


KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:


Extensive Leadership Experience:


- 15+ years in heavy metal fabrication/transformer tank manufacturing with multisite management experience.


Technical & Digital Expertise:


- Proficient in advanced manufacturing technologies, ERP systems, Industry 4.0, and robotic process integration.

- Expertise in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.


Financial Acumen & Operational Excellence:


- Demonstrated success in cost control, budgeting, and achieving significant revenue targets.


Global Exposure & Strategic Thinking:


- Ability to work internationally, manage cross-border teams, and drive global market expansion.


Safety, ESG & Compliance:


- Deep understanding of plant safety, environmental standards, and regulatory compliance.


Interpersonal & Cultural Skills:


- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a commitment to mentoring and workforce development.

- Proven history of implementing digital initiatives that improve productivity and reduce downtime.

- Track record of improving first-pass yield, reducing production downtime, and achieving cost reductions.
