Head - Risk & Policy - Loan Against Property Domain

Role Overview:

The Head - Risk & Policy (LAP) will be responsible for defining, implementing, and monitoring risk frameworks, processes, and policies for the LAP portfolio. This is a non-credit underwriting role with a strong focus on policy formulation, portfolio risk management, early warning frameworks, governance, and regulatory compliance. The position requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders (business, product, operations, collections, compliance, audit) to ensure sustainable growth while minimizing risk.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Design & Governance:

- Formulate, review, and update risk & policy frameworks for LAP business across customer segments.

- Define eligibility norms, documentation standards, process checks, and risk triggers (excluding individual credit decisioning).

- Ensure alignment with regulatory guidelines (RBI/NHB) and internal governance standards.

Portfolio Risk Management:

- Monitor portfolio trends, delinquency patterns, bounce rates, and vintage analysis.

- Identify early warning signals (EWS) and recommend policy interventions.

- Develop and maintain risk appetite statements, scorecards, and risk metrics for LAP.

Process Risk & Controls:

- Work closely with Operations & Product teams to ensure end-to-end process risk controls.

- Establish checks to mitigate operational, fraud, and compliance risks.

- Conduct regular risk reviews and ensure closure of audit/regulatory findings.

Regulatory & Compliance:

- Track regulatory changes impacting LAP and ensure timely policy modifications.

- Ensure 100% compliance with internal and external audits.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Partner with Collections to feed learnings into origination and policy frameworks.

- Collaborate with Business, Legal, Tech, and Data Science teams for product and process enhancements.

- Represent Risk & Policy in management forums and committees.

Desired Profile:

- 10-18 years of relevant experience in Risk & Policy (Non-Credit) roles within LAP / Secured Lending portfolios.

- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, risk governance, fraud control, and portfolio analytics.

- Proven track record in policy formulation and portfolio risk management.

- Ability to work cross-functionally and drive large-scale process/policy implementation.

- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
