- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key materials like cement, steel, aggregates, tiles, sanitaryware, electricals, paints, etc.
- Build and manage a robust supplier base for local and regional procurement.
- Ensure procurement is aligned with project timelines and budget.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors and manufacturers.
- Build long-term partnerships with reliable suppliers to secure competitive pricing and consistent quality.
- Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and compliance checks.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities for bulk purchases, rate contracts, and alternate sourcing.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery conditions to ensure cost efficiency.
- Draft and manage vendor agreements, ensuring all legal and quality standards are met.
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, processes, and documentation.
- Work closely with the project and warehousing teams to forecast demand and manage stock levels.
- Optimize logistics and delivery schedules to reduce lead times and avoid project delays.
- Track market trends, new material innovations, and pricing fluctuations to make informed buying decisions.
- Monitor competitor sourcing strategies and benchmark procurement practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals across multiple sites or regions.
- Drive process improvements and build procurement excellence.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering / Supply Chain / Commerce; MBA in SCM or Materials Management preferred.
- 12-20 years of experience in procurement of building materials for real estate, construction, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proven track record in cost optimization and large-scale procurement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
