Role Overview -
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Loan Operations Head to lead and streamline our lending operations. This role will be central to managing the end-to-end loan lifecycle, ensuring smooth disbursement, compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving operational efficiency as we scale.
Loan Operations Management:
- Manage the end-to-end loan operations cycle (application processing, documentation, credit checks, approvals, disbursement, repayment tracking).
- Ensure TAT adherence for loan disbursement across all product lines.
- Oversee loan documentation, verification, and compliance with RBI/NBFC norms.
- Implement process controls to minimize operational risks and errors.
Process Setup & Optimization: (Startup Focus)
- Design and implement loan operations processes from scratch (SOPs, checklists, workflows).
- Collaborate with product, credit, and tech teams to build scalable digital-first processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks (KYC, document management, repayment collections).
- Set up and monitor MIS reports & dashboards for operational efficiency.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with RBI, NBFC, and local lending regulations.
- Implement strong KYC/AML processes to prevent fraud.
- Partner with internal audit & compliance teams for periodic checks and risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready loan operation records.
Team & Vendor Management:
- Lead and train a loan operations team (analysts, associates, processors).
- Coordinate with external vendors/partners (DSAs, collection agencies, verification agencies).
- Work closely with banks, NBFC partners, and fintech platforms for co-lending and funding tie-ups.
Customer Experience:
- Ensure a seamless loan disbursement experience for customers.
- Act as an escalation point for operational issues.
- Drive initiatives to reduce customer complaints and TAT delays.
Key Skills & Qualifications -
- 7-12 years of experience in loan operations (preferably with NBFCs, banks, or fintechs).
- Strong knowledge of business loans, SME loans and unsecured lending.
- Familiarity with RBI/NBFC compliance and regulatory guidelines.
- Hands-on experience with loan management systems (LMS) and core banking systems.
- Strong analytical, process improvement, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and build systems from ground zero.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
