Job Title: Head - Legal (Real Estate)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced legal professional to lead the Legal function for our Real Estate business in Mumbai. The role requires strong expertise in real estate laws, contract drafting, due diligence, litigation management, and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will partner with business, project, and leadership teams to mitigate risks, ensure compliance, and safeguard the organization's interests in all legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Real Estate Transactions & Documentation:

- Draft, review, and finalize agreements including Sale Deeds, Lease Deeds, Development Agreements, Joint Ventures, MOUs, and Service Agreements.

- Conduct legal due diligence on land parcels, development rights, and property titles.

- Ensure compliance with RERA, Stamp Duty, Registration, and other real estate-related regulations.

2. Contracts & Litigation:

- Oversee contract management - drafting, vetting, and negotiation of commercial and vendor contracts.

- Manage disputes, arbitration, and litigation matters in coordination with external counsel.

- Provide legal opinion and risk assessment for ongoing and new projects.

3. Regulatory & Compliance:

- Ensure adherence to local municipal, state, and central regulations relating to land, property, construction, and environment.

- Liaise with statutory and regulatory authorities (RERA, MCGM, MMRDA, SRA, etc.) for approvals and compliance requirements.

- Develop internal compliance frameworks and policies for the business.

4. Advisory & Leadership:

- Act as a strategic business partner, advising management on structuring real estate transactions and risk mitigation.

- Represent the organization in negotiations with clients, investors, and authorities.

- Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals, driving efficiency and governance.

Qualifications & Skills:

- LLB / LLM from a reputed law school.

- 8-12 years of legal experience in real estate, infrastructure, or construction sector.

- Strong knowledge of property laws, RERA, contract law, and corporate governance.

- Proven experience in title due diligence, drafting complex agreements, and litigation management.

- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.

- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
