Head of Import and Export Documentation (Shipping & Logistics)
Role Summary :
- The Head of Import and Export Documentation will oversee all aspects of shipping documentation, compliance, and logistics operations, including air and sea cargo, freight booking, and customs clearance.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international trade, shipping regulations, and logistics management, with a focus on ensuring seamless and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Documentation Management:
- Oversee the preparation, verification, and submission of all import/export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and shipping laws.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipping documents and ensure timely filing and retrieval.
Logistics Coordination:
- Manage end-to-end logistics operations for air and sea cargo, including freight booking, cargo tracking, and delivery coordination.
- Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, airlines, and customs brokers to ensure smooth operations.
- Optimize shipping routes and modes of transport to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Stay updated on changes in international trade laws, tariffs, and customs regulations.
- Ensure all shipments comply with local and international trade regulations, including export controls and sanctions.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to shipping, documentation, and compliance.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of documentation and logistics professionals.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and provide training to enhance team capabilities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Customer and Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and partners regarding shipping and documentation matters.
- Resolve any issues related to shipping delays, documentation errors, or customs clearance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customs authorities, freight forwarders, and shipping companies.
