Role Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Fresh (Fruits and Vegetables) to own the end-to-end strategy, sourcing, quality, and profitability of our fresh produce vertical. This leader will be responsible for building the fresh category from scratch, driving partnerships with farmers and aggregators, and ensuring a seamless last-mile delivery experience aligned with our quick commerce promise.

Key Responsibilities:

Category Ownership

- Define and execute the short and long-term vision for the fresh produce category.

- Lead category planning, assortment strategy, pricing, and margin management.

- Build a differentiated and curated product portfolio based on customer preferences and trends.

Sourcing & Vendor Development

- Develop a robust, direct-from-source supply chain including farm-gate procurement, mandi partnerships, FPO/aggregator tie-ups.

- Build relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and farmers to ensure consistent quality and supply.

- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service levels to ensure best-in-class procurement economics.

Operations & Quality Control

- Ensure 100% availability with zero stockouts, minimal wastage, and top-notch freshness standards.

- Collaborate with warehouse, inventory, and delivery teams to maintain cold chain and shelf-life.

- Define SOPs for inbound QC, handling, and storage of fruits and vegetables.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Build and lead a high-performing Fresh category team including sourcing, category managers, and quality experts.

- Work closely with supply chain, finance, marketing, product, and technology teams to drive business goals.

- Own performance metrics including GMV, margins, fill rates, wastage, customer NPS, and vendor performance.

Tech & Innovation Focus

- Leverage tech to streamline forecasting, demand planning, pricing, and traceability.

- Drive innovation in assortment, packaging, and value-added offerings (e.g., cut fruits, organic lines).

Requirements:

- 14-16 years of experience in Fresh/F&V sourcing, category management, or agri-supply chain.

- Proven track record in a fast-paced environment (e.g., e-grocery, retail, agri-tech, or quick commerce).

- Deep understanding of perishable category dynamics, cold chain logistics, and demand forecasting.

- Strong vendor management, negotiation, and P&L ownership experience.

- Hustler mindset with ability to work hands-on and build from scratch.

- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.

- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, supply chain, business, or related field; MBA preferred.
