Job Title: Head Business Excellence
Location: Corporate Office / Central Manufacturing Hub
Department: Strategy & Process Excellence
Reports To: Group COO / Director Operations
Experience: 1520 years
Industry Preference: Textile / Apparel Manufacturing / FMCG / Auto (with plant excellence exposure)
Role Overview:
The Head of Business Excellence will drive continuous improvement initiatives across multiple textile manufacturing units (spinning, weaving, processing, and sheeting), focusing on enhancing productivity, quality, cost efficiency, and overall operational excellence. The role involves deploying Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, Kaizen, and other improvement methodologies to embed a high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Improvement & Transformation
- Identify and execute continuous improvement (CI) projects across business units using Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma tools.
- Standardize operational processes across facilities with a focus on process stability, waste elimination, and efficiency.
- Facilitate cross-functional process mapping, value stream analysis, and root cause analysis.
Kaizen / Lean Deployment
- Build and implement the Kaizen culture across plants by training, motivating, and involving frontline teams.
- Set up visual management systems (5S, Andon, Gemba boards).
- Lead structured Kaizen events with measurable outcomes.
Performance Monitoring & KPIs
- Define and track operational KPIs: OEE, TAT, rejection rate, line efficiency, lead times, energy usage, etc.
- Drive cost reduction and productivity improvement through system-based interventions.
- Develop performance dashboards and publish monthly business excellence scorecards.
Training & Culture Building
- Lead workshops on Lean, TPM, TQM, 5S, and problem-solving techniques.
- Establish internal Business Excellence Champions across departments.
- Create frameworks for idea generation, reward & recognition programs.
Strategy & Benchmarking
- Conduct benchmarking studies with global textile players and best-in-class manufacturing units.
- Work with business heads to identify strategic improvement areas aligned with business goals.
- Support digital transformation & automation through process simplification.
Certifications & Systems
- Manage or support audits for ISO, TPM, sustainability certifications (Higg, ZDHC).
- Standardize documentation, SOPs, and risk assessment tools across units.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of textile manufacturing processes.
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt (preferred).
- Deep knowledge of Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, SMED, Poka-Yoke, OEE).
- Strong facilitation, change management & cross-functional leadership.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and coaching skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.Tech / B.E. Textile / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering
- MBA (Operations / Strategy) Preferred
- 1520 years of experience in operational excellence roles in manufacturing-heavy industries.
