Position Title: Head Business Development Solar & BESS C&I Vertical.
Location: Bangalore.
Department: Business Development / Sales.
Industry: Renewable Energy (Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems).
Role Overview:
The Business Development Head C&I Vertical will be responsible for leading, strategizing, and expanding the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment of the Solar and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) business.
This leadership role requires a strong understanding of market dynamics, technical solutions, and commercial strategies to acquire and manage key accounts and strategic partnerships.
The incumbent will play a pivotal role in driving top-line growth, forging long-term client relationships, and delivering on the companys vision of sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a robust business development strategy for the C&I vertical in Solar and BESS across India.
- Identify new business opportunities in rooftop solar, ground-mounted solar, hybrid systems, and energy storage tailored for C&I customers.
- Collaborate with the CMD and leadership team to align C&I business strategies with overall company goals.
Market Development & Customer Acquisition:
- Generate a strong pipeline of C&I customers through direct sales, channel partners, EPC partners, and strategic alliances.
- Lead market analysis and competitive benchmarking to identify growth areas and emerging trends.
- Participate in industry events, exhibitions, and forums to build brand presence and network.
Key Account Management:
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with large corporate clients, industrial parks, and commercial establishments.
- Lead negotiations, contract finalization, and closure of high-value deals.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through value-based selling and service excellence.
Proposal & Tendering Support:
- Oversee preparation of techno-commercial proposals in collaboration with the engineering, finance, and legal teams.
- Coordinate with internal teams for feasibility studies, DPR preparation, and project-specific customizations.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Projects, SCM, Engineering, and O&M teams to ensure timely execution and delivery.
- Align with Finance for pricing models, ROI analysis, and funding support for customer CAPEX/OPEX models.
Team Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing business development team focused on the C&I segment.
- Set and track KPIs, mentor team members, and foster a performance-driven culture.
Financial Accountability:
- Own the sales target and P&L for the C&I Solar & BESS vertical.
- Prepare business forecasts, budgets, and periodic reports for review by the CMD.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical/Mechanical).
- MBA in Marketing or Strategy is highly desirable.
- 15+ years of experience in business development/sales, with at least 5 years in C&I Solar and/or BESS space.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, BESS technology, and commercial/industrial customer needs.
- Proven track record of closing large-scale solar/BESS projects under CAPEX, OPEX, or RESCO models.
