The Head Product, Retail Assets plays a pivotal leadership role in defining, developing, and executing the banks retail lending product strategy. This role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of the retail asset product portfolio, with a primary focus on secured lending (Loan Against Property, Home Loans) and diversified coverage across 2-Wheeler Loans, Gold Loans, Used Car Loans, Tractor Finance, Commercial Vehicles, Agriculture Business, Business Banking, Priority Sector Lending (PSL), and other growth-oriented products.
The incumbent will be instrumental in conceptualizing and delivering best-in-class loan origination and onboarding journeys that are customer-centric, digitally enabled, and operationally efficient, leveraging advanced technology platforms to drive digital transformation across the retail lending space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the retail assets product strategy in alignment with the banks overall business objectives.
- End-to-end ownership of the retail lending portfolio, ensuring growth, profitability, and market competitiveness.
- Drive portfolio diversification by enhancing existing products and launching new, market relevant lending solutions.
- Monitor market trends, customer insights, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes to identify business opportunities.
- Lead the design, development, and enhancement of secured and unsecured lending products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Credit, Risk, Operations, Technology, Sales) to ensure product success.
- Create customer-first loan origination and servicing journeys with an emphasis on speed, transparency, and ease of use.
- Integrate digital tools and platforms to streamline application, verification, and disbursement processes.
- Champion technology-led product innovations to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Leverage automation, AI, and data analytics to improve credit decisioning, reduce turnaround times, and optimize processes.
- Build partnerships with fintechs and technology vendors to introduce innovative lending solutions.
- Drive portfolio profitability by balancing asset growth with risk management.
- Manage interest rate pricing, fee structures, and product-level economics.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new product launches and campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines (RBI, PSL norms, etc.).
- Liaise with internal audit, compliance, and legal teams to maintain a robust control environment.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless product delivery and support.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Retail Lending Expertise: Deep understanding of secured and unsecured loan products, especially LAP, Home Loans, Gold Loans, Vehicle Finance, and PSL.
- Product Management: Proven track record in managing the complete product lifecycle ideation to execution.
- Digital & Technology Knowledge: Strong exposure to digital lending platforms, loan origination systems, and process automation.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, market trends, and financial reports to make informed decisions.
- Strong business acumen with a strategic mindset.
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
- High-level communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Problem-solving orientation with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- MBA/PGDM in Finance, Marketing, or related field from a reputed institution.
- 8-11 years of relevant experience in retail lending product management within a bank or NBFC.
- Demonstrated success in driving product innovation, portfolio growth, and digital transformation.
- Portfolio growth rate and market share improvement.
- Loan book quality (NPA levels, delinquency ratios).
- Customer acquisition and retention metrics.
