Job Title: General Manager - Head of Transportation

Location: Mumbai Department: Transportation

Key Responsibilities (KRA):

Operational Management:

- Oversee and manage the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation-related functions across the organization.

- Ensure fleet operations comply with safety, legal, and regulatory standards.

- Monitor and optimize schedules, routes, fleet utilization, and vehicle maintenance.

- Enforce cost controls related to fleet, maintenance, branch operations, and other logistics functions.

- Conduct daily operational review meetings with the team and coordinate seamlessly with branches.

- Collaborate with Accounts and Finance teams to ensure timely billing, vendor payments, and cost reconciliations.

- Track cost fluctuations and proactively renegotiate hire rates with clients to protect profit margins.

- Oversee the submission of pricing, RFQs, and tenders, ensuring competitive and accurate proposals.

- Regularly interact with clients to address service issues, understand future plans, and strengthen relationships.

Strategic & Business Development:

- Identify and develop new business opportunities while expanding services with existing clients.

- Support the sales team by providing data-driven insights, industry knowledge, and customized pricing strategies.

- Perform periodic vendor assessments and onboard new vendors to enhance cost-effectiveness and service reliability.

- Gather and share market intelligence with the leadership team to stay abreast of current trends, technologies, and competitive strategies.

- Assist in the planning and execution of strategic initiatives to enhance the company's transportation operations on a Pan-India level.

General Administration:

- Play a key role in setting up operational processes, SOPs, recruitment, training, supplier selection, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.

- Develop and execute the company's business plans and budgets aligned with growth objectives.

- Lead sales and marketing initiatives including client prospecting and proposal development.

- Build and nurture anchor client relationships through value-added logistics solutions.

- Frequently visit branch offices to ensure seamless operations, encourage team development, and drive business growth.

- Ensure safety protocols are strictly followed for both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

- Foster a customer-centric culture at all levels of the organization.

- Maintain compliance with company policies while supervising and mentoring the team.

- Manage recruitment, training, performance reviews, and issue resolution for all transportation personnel.

- Analyze customer and market trends to identify new growth opportunities.

- Maintain active communication with management and across functional teams.

- Contribute to both short and long-term market strategy planning and execution.

- Ensure administrative and documentation requirements are met consistently and efficiently.

- Promote continuous learning and skill development within the team.

Reporting Requirements:

- Provide regular reports on debtors' outstanding as directed by the management.

- Submit periodic MIS reports (Monthly, Quarterly, and Half-Yearly) with operational and financial insights.

- Share daily receipts reports and update management on persistent defaulters impacting fund flow.
