Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned General Manager Purchase to manage the end-to-end procurement process for packaging materials at our brewery located in Indore.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing, vendor management, and cost control for materials such as bottles, cans, cartons, labels, and closures.

This role is critical in ensuring timely availability of high-quality packaging supplies to support uninterrupted production and market distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Sourcing:

- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for all brewery packaging materials.

- Manage purchasing of items such as: Glass bottles, aluminum cans, crown corks, pull tabs, PET bottles. Labels, shrink sleeves, cartons, trays, shrink films, Kegs, caps, liners, adhesives, and other auxiliary materials.

- Source materials from domestic and international suppliers, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency.

Vendor Development & Negotiation

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new packaging suppliers in alignment with production requirements and growth targets.

- Negotiate contracts, pricing, delivery schedules, and credit terms with vendors.

- Build strong supplier partnerships to ensure reliable supply and service levels.

Inventory & Cost Management

- Coordinate with production planning and stores for demand forecasting and inventory control.

- Ensure optimal stock levels to prevent overstocking or stock outs.

- Monitor market trends and price fluctuations to drive cost savings without compromising quality.

- Ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.

Quality & Compliance

- Work closely with the QA/QC team to ensure all packaging materials meet technical specifications and regulatory standards (e.g., FSSAI, BIS).

- Maintain proper documentation of procurement activities for audit and traceability.

Process Optimization & ERP

- Utilize ERP systems (such as SAP, OBeer, Oracle, or other brewery-specific platforms) for purchase orders, inventory tracking, and reporting.

- Analyze procurement data and trends to make informed business decisions.

- Continuously improve procurement processes for better efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Packaging Technology, Engineering, or Business Administration.

- MBA or specialized certification in procurement/supply chain is a plus.

- Minimum 1012 years of purchasing experience, preferably in the brewery, beverage, FMCG, or packaging industry.

- Deep understanding of packaging material specifications, manufacturing lead times, and supplier capabilities.

- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

- Proficiency in ERP tools (SAP/Oracle/other procurement systems).

- Knowledge of sustainable and recyclable packaging trends is desirable.
