About the Client:

The Client is a global commodities trading arm of a conglomerate that is recognised participant in the supply of bulk commodities and operations across three continents. With humble beginnings in brass and steel scrap, the company has managed the supply of millions of metric tons of bulk commodities like Iron ore, Met Coke, Thermal and Coking coal, Wheat, Maize and Barley. As part of a vertical integration strategy, the Client moved into Chrome ore mining in 2010 and today, Chrome is the dominant part of the product mix for the company, along with Coal and Iron ore. The Client has established itself as a brand in the bulk commodities industry, always seeking new opportunities and providing innovative solutions for our customers.

About the Role:

The GM - India Business will drive the overall growth and profitability of the commodities business in India.

The key responsibilities for this role will include:

1. Strategic Leadership:

- Develop and execute the business strategy for the India region in alignment with global objectives.

- Identify growth opportunities in existing and emerging markets within India.

2. P&L Management:

- Take ownership of the region's profit and loss, ensuring financial targets are met.

- Optimize cost structures while driving revenue growth and profitability.

3. Market and Client Development:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, and regulatory bodies.

- Develop a robust client base by understanding market demands and offering tailored solutions.

4. Operational Excellence:

- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient supply chain, logistics, and risk management.

- Improve operational efficiency.

5. Team Leadership:

- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team to achieve business objectives.

- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

6. Compliance and Risk Management:

- Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards.

- Proactively identify and mitigate business risks related to the commodities market.

7. Reporting and Analytics:

- Provide regular updates on business performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives to the global leadership team.

- Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve decision-making.

About the Candidate:

The incumbent will be part of the leadership team and will drive the P&L for the commodities business out India. To be suitable, s/he must have:

- At least 15 years of experience in the commodities sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

- Proven track record in building and successfully running a Rs.1000 cr commodities business based out of India.

- Have a Masters in Business or related discipline.

- Deep understanding of the global commodities market with special focus on India.

- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.

- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
