Current Stage of the Company:

EDTEX provides Automation Software Products to around 30+ Premier Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India and aims to expand this number to 100 within the next two years. We are focusing specifically on growing in International markets. To support this growth, EDTEX is expanding its Product Management team. This presents a fantastic opportunity for MBA graduates to join a rapidly growing ed-tech startup and work closely with the founders, thereby making a significant impact on their careers.

About the Product:

The Product you would be managing is called Skynet - Placement Automation Software that caters to premier business schools in India, including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, Indian School of Business(ISB), IIM Mumbai, IIM Trichy, IIM Jammu, IIT Bombay, IISc Bangalore, MICA, and several others.

The Product Manager has the following goals:

1. Grow the revenue by 100% in the next 1.5 years

2. Grow the Product Internationally, which includes doing Product Market Fit, GTM Strategy, etc.

Role and Responsibilities:

This is a cross-functional and customer-facing role. The Product Manager is expected to work with multiple customers and multiple projects at the same time. The responsibilities are broadly categorized into the following categories

1. Product Management

- Coming up with the right features for the customers by regularly engaging with the customers and taking feedback from the Sales and Onboarding teams.

- Building, owning, and delivering a Product road map by working with Engineering, QA, Design, and S&M teams.

- Able to build Wireframes and work with Design teams.

- Product Demos with the Customers.

- Product Documentation.

- Setting up priorities for Engineering and other Functional teams.

- Building Quarterly and Yearly Plans for the Product.

2. Product Onboarding

- Develop a Product Onboarding plan.

- Handle Critical or Complex Product Onboarding.

- Understanding Customer Requirements.

- Building Process flow diagrams.

3. Project Management

- Building a Project plan & Regular Communication on Status (for critical projects)

- Managing the expectations of the Customer (concerning Timelines and Scope)

- Negotiation with Clients on the features and timelines

- Issue Triaging

4. Risk management

- Identifying the risks proactively and mitigating them by taking appropriate steps

5. Planning and Strategic Execution

- PM is expected to execute multiple projects at the same time.

- PM needs to work with Engineering Leads, Design, and the QA team to ensure all the projects are delivered on time with quality.

6. Stakeholder Management

- As Product Manager, you will work with the Engineering Team, QC Team, Design Team, Sales Team, and Customers. You need to set and meet the expectations of each of the stakeholders.

7. Crisis Management

- The inevitable part of startups is the crisis that we land into, even after doing several things right. During my last 7 years, we ran into several of them and came out with fantastic learnings. Your job is to be calm in such situations and handle the crisis mindfully with the support of the team.

Ideal Profile:

1. MBA from a Top Tier Business school in India (Must have)

2. 1-2 years of experience in a Product Management Role (Must have)

3. Pre-MBA Engineering Background (Must have)

4. Played a Leadership role in the Institute or a Placement Committee member (Must have)

5. Pre-MBA Experience as a Software Engineer (Must have)

6. Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering (Good to have)

7. Ability to speak and understand Telugu is needed for effective communication and managing your tech teams (since most of our engineers are freshers and in early career zone coming from regional IIITs of TG/AP who speak and understand better in Telugu)
