Director of Sales & Service, South Asia
Primary Purpose:
- The Director of Sales & Service is responsible for leading and managing the sales and service functions in South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal), with a focus on driving business growth, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ensuring operational excellence.
- This role requires the development and execution of long-term strategic plans to expand market share, improve service quality, and drive profitable growth through both organic and inorganic means.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a customer-focused sales and service culture, where customer experience is the top priority
- Define and execute long-term strategic and operational plans for South Asia in alignment with global objectives
- Drive sales growth by developing strategies to expand into new markets, increase market share, and introduce new products
- Achieve agreed revenue, order intake, and profitability targets while maintaining cost control
- Organize, staff, and manage the sales and service teams according to business needs, ensuring high performance and professional development
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, agents, and sales representatives
- Ensure the highest standards of service excellence, including response times, on-time service schedules, and first-time completion of installations
- Support key opportunities throughout the sales cycle, including funding, tenders, bids, and major negotiations
- Contribute actively to global sales and service functions, seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, tools, and best practices
- Provide consolidated reports on team activities, including forecasts, pipeline management, and key customer support metrics
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and ethical business practices
- Maximize cash collection, minimize debtor days, and manage inventory effectively for the South Asia region
- Liaise with other regional sales and service managers to leverage best practices and explore cross-selling opportunities
- Represent the company at key industry conferences and marketing events
- Travel frequently within South Asia and internationally as required to fulfill business needs
- Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities in line with the scope and level of responsibility of the role, which might reasonably be required
Requirements:
Professional Skills/Abilities:
- 10+ years of experience in sales and service management within a multinational company.
- 5+ years of people management experience in a multinational environment.
- Strong track record of driving sales growth and achieving financial targets.
- Experience in the analytical instrumentation industry (preferred).
- Knowledge of the metals, manufacturing, PMI, or automotive industries (preferred).
- Strong understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute growth strategies.
- Excellent sales management and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing abilities.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA preferred).
