Director - Data Engineering - Retail Industry

We are hiring Director - Data Engineering for our client based at Hyderabad.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field

- 15+ years of experience in software engineering roles, including at least 5+ years in a leadership or portfolio management role within data or analytics engineering

- 5+ years of GCP experience

- Expertise with Confluent Kafka and Gravitee API Management

- Strong expertise in tools like BigQuery, Dataflow, Airflow, dbt, Python/Spark, and API gateways

Must have experience in any one of the following:

- People data: 10+ years leading People focused Data and Analytics products, HR systems (SuccessFactors) and secure data integration

- Technology data: Strong experience in building data products for IT operations, asset management, and service management, cyber security etc.

- Finance data: Experience integrating and modeling data from Oracle ERP platforms, financial systems, GL/AP/AR/FA data, and reporting requirements, secure data handling, financial compliance, and auditability.

- Engineering Excellence: Building internal platforms, shared services, and engineering tooling at enterprise scale, data architecture, semantic modeling, and metadata systems, micro front-end architecture for data apps (e.g., React, modular component libraries).

- Strong knowledge in data architecture, cloud platforms, data pipelines, and software development best practices

- Strong understanding of DevOps principles: version control, observability, and pipeline reliability

- Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and report on project progress effectively

- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing data products or services that deliver measurable business impact

- Expertise in the areas of model architecture, data engineering, data governance and ML engineering

- Experience with all facets of architecture and engineering including application development, platforms, infrastructure, security, and deployment. Experience delivering large-scale cloud-native solutions.

- Exposure to an enterprise level, global technology landscape and a proven ability to establish standards and define future roadmaps for a global company.

- Ability to partner with business and technology stakeholders to define and communicate values and outcome of new or evolving capabilities.

- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to analyze complex problems from technology, business model and process, as well as organizational lens.

- Ability to manage ad hoc demands along with organizational priorities and set realistic expectations.

- A self-initiated influencer, and strong stakeholder management.
