Deputy General Manager - Industrial Relations/Employee Relations

Job Summary:

The Site Leader- HR will be responsible for people functions for the six plants in India and will provide strategic HR leadership across multiple manufacturing locations. Responsibilities include strategic HR leadership, Industrial relations, employee relations and legal compliances. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with in-depth knowledge of Indian labour laws.

The role will lead, mentor, and guide Site HR Managers, while partnering closely with Site operations leadership to align people initiatives with business objectives and foster a positive work environment.

Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership

- Develop and implement a unified HR strategy across all manufacturing plants aligned with the overall business objectives

- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on workforce-related issues.

Team Management & Leadership

- Oversee people function for six manufacturing plants across India.

- Lead, coach, and manage Site HRs to drive performance and consistency across all locations.

- Promote a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and fostering leadership development among Site HR teams.

- Facilitate regular reviews and communication channels among HR teams across Sites

Business Partnering

- Support the manufacturing organization and business by providing services, solutions, and interventions across all people processes.

- Collaborate, advice and support Plant Leadership Teams and Site HRs on people-related decisions and ensure high ownership of the talent engagement, retention, and development agenda

- Oversee employee engagement processes to improve the employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.

- Oversee plant-level recruitment with the Central Talent Acquisition team, support various programs and learning and development programs according to the Regional and global/COE's plan.

Industrial Relations

- Advice and collaborate with plant management, corporate and global teams

- Oversee and guide Site HRs in managing labour relations

- Provide oversight and support in dealing with labor unions, negotiations, and disputes if applicable.

- Oversee and standardize disciplinary procedures, grievance handling, and statutory compliance reporting.

- Be the plant's expert on union issues when needed.

Statutory Compliances

- Ensure the plant complies with all labor laws, regulations, and standards and stay updated on labour laws and regulations in India, ensuring compliance in all people's practices.

- Work closely with legal counsel to mitigate people-related risks and ensure legal compliance.

- Liasoning and managing court cases with support from Site HRs and Legal team


Employee Relations:

- Advice Site HRs and the Site leadership teams in managing employee relations issues, addressing concerns and grievances in a fair and timely manner.

- Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and conflict resolution.

Talent Development:

- Identify talent gaps and develop strategies for succession planning.

- Implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and competencies.

Culture, Engagement & Retention

- Foster a culture of safety, inclusiveness, accountability, and performance across all plants.

- Lead employee engagement strategies and retention programs across locations.

- Drive initiatives for employee well-being and diversity and inclusion.

People Metrics & Reporting

- Monitor and analyze key HR metrics (attrition, hiring, productivity, absenteeism, etc.) across all plants.

- Utilize people metrics and analytics to drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement in people

Plant People Management and Corporate Team support:

- Ensure people policies and procedures are consistent with local, state and federal regulations.

- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the workplace.

- Provide people support to the corporate team

- Collaborate with corporate leadership to align people's initiatives with corporate objectives.

Requirements:

Essential:

- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Human Resources Management (HRM), Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (PMIR).

- Mandate plant experience of minimum 5 years

- Ability to manage conflicts and resolve employee issues.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred:

- 8-10 year experience in people management.

- Experience in organizational development, change management and strategic planning.

- Knowledge of Indian employments laws and regulations
