Role Overview

Our client, a leading cold-chain logistics and storage provider, is seeking an accomplished Business Head - Cold Chain Operations to drive strategic growth and end-to-end management of their pan-India cold storage and reefer transportation network. This high-impact leadership role carries full P&L responsibility, overseeing expansion projects, operational excellence, and automation while building strong partnerships with manufacturers, 3PLs, distributors, and retail chains. The position demands proven expertise in cold-chain logistics, multi-location operations, and large-scale client management to ensure best-in-class service, compliance, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Strategy & Growth

- Define and execute the long-term strategy for cold chain storage and transportation.

- Identify new business opportunities, clients, and geographies.

- Build partnerships with manufacturers, 3PLs, distributors, and retail chains.

- Drive expansion projects (new facilities, reefer fleet, automation, technology).

2. P&L & Commercial Management

- Own revenue, profitability, and cost optimization of the division.

- Develop and implement pricing models for storage, handling, and reefer logistics.

- Negotiate high-value contracts with clients and vendors.

- Track budget vs actual performance and report to management/board.

3. Operations Excellence

- Oversee operations of multiple cold storages and reefer fleet (pan-India).

- Implement best practices in temperature monitoring, inventory control, and distribution.

- Ensure high levels of client SLAs (on-time dispatch, zero product loss).

- Drive automation, digitization (WMS, TMS), and process optimization.

4. Client & Stakeholder Management

- Act as the face of the company for strategic clients

- Build and maintain long-term client relationships.

- Manage large corporate accounts and ensure contract renewals.

- Represent the company in industry forums, associations, and government bodies.

5. Compliance, Risk & Safety

- Ensure adherence to FSSAI, GST, labor, and transport regulations.

- Maintain certifications (ISO, HACCP, GDP, etc.).

- Oversee insurance, risk management, and safety protocols.

- Ensure 100% statutory and audit compliance.

6. Team Leadership

- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team across operations, sales, and support.

- Develop future leaders within the cold chain business.

- Create a performance-driven culture with focus on accountability and innovation.

Key Skills Required

- Strong understanding of cold chain logistics, reefer fleet, and warehousing.

- Proven P&L management and business growth track record.

- Expertise in client acquisition, contract management, and corporate negotiations.

- Knowledge of automation, IoT, WMS, TMS, and refrigeration technology.

- Leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.

Qualifications

- MBA / PG in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business Management (preferred).

- 12-20 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or FMCG supply chain, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.

- Exposure to multi-location operations and corporate account management.

KPI Metrics (for performance evaluation)

- Revenue growth % and EBITDA margin.

- Utilization of storage capacity & fleet.

- Client retention and satisfaction scores.

- Reduction in operational cost per pallet/km.

- Compliance & zero product loss incidents.
