- At least 15-20 years of hands-on work experience in the management/leadership of construction of - numerous hydropower projects.

- An Engineering degree from a recognized university in an appropriate discipline, such as Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

- Should have experience with Hydro Projects (Mandatory)

- Extensive experience in the preparation of detailed cost estimates, cost control, capital program management, financial, and project schedule reporting.

- Fluency in spoken and written English

Role:

- Extensive hands-on experience with most of the following elements of hydropower construction/reconstruction: tender preparation, tender evaluations, contract negotiations, contract administration, contract supervision, and claims management. Manage problem solving processes with respect to design, construction, and coordination issues associated with hydraulic turbines, alternators, excitation systems, governor systems, plant electrical and mechanical systems, waterway civil structures (concrete and earthen), powerhouse super structure and substructure, hydraulic steel structures, cranes, hoists, spillway gates, reservoir management, and flood routing.

- Experience in overseeing site provisions for employee occupational safety and health programs.

- Experience with managing multicultural project teams on hydropower construction/ reconstruction projects, preferably in developing countries.

- Experience in working and communicating with local and national authorities on hydropower projects of national importance is preferable.

- Proven leadership ability, professionalism, organizational capacity, and proven ability to effectively transfer knowledge and provide training of resources.

- Be responsible for the overall management, leadership, direction, and proper implementation of a hydropower construction/rehabilitation project. This role also includes the management and functioning of the project implementation unit, its staff, and resources.

- Prepare detailed cost estimates, manage the budget and cost control, perform capital program management, and financial and project schedule reporting.

- Participate and lead tender preparation, tender evaluations, contract negotiations, contract administration, contract supervision, and claims management. Manage problem solving processes with respect to design, construction, and coordination issues associated with hydraulic turbines, alternators, excitation systems, governor systems, plant electrical and mechanical systems, waterway civil structures (concrete and earthen), powerhouse super structure and substructure, hydraulic steel structures, cranes, hoists, and spillway gates, reservoir management, and flood routing.

- Act as the onsite Project Manager, providing day to day supervision of operating expenses and the progress of work, with assistance from the state-owned utility seconded personnel and external experts, as required.

- Be responsible for review and approval of all plans, schedules, variation orders, review and approval of all payments to contractors/suppliers, and operating expenses.

- Oversee site provisions for employee occupational safety and health programs.

- Work and communicate with local and national authorities on the hydropower project.

- Communicate regularly and report on the project's progress to the MHI Manager, CEO, funding agencies, and to relevant government ministries.
