Commodity Trader

Base metals (copper, zinc, aluminium) with additional responsibilities of Precious Metals (Gold & Silver) Trader

Key Responsibilities:

- Buy and sell base metals, gold and silver in physical, spot, and futures markets (e.g., MCX, LME, COMEX, LBMA).

- Analyse global and domestic bullion market trends, price movements, and macroeconomic indicators.

- Create, analyse spread/arbitrage opportunities in domestic & international markets.

- Execute intraday, positional, and long-term trades based on technical and fundamental analysis.

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with bullion dealers, refiners, banks, jewellers, and importers/exporters.

- Hedge positions and manage trading risk through derivative instruments.

- Monitor geopolitical and economic factors such as interest rates, inflation, central bank policies, and USD performance.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (SEBI, RBI, DGFT) and transaction documentation.

- Coordinate with logistics partners for the delivery and vaulting of physical gold/silver.

- Maintain real-time P&L tracking, position books, and risk limits.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (CFA, MBA) is preferred (not compulsory)

- In-depth understanding of Base/Precious metal markets, price drivers, and trading platforms (MCX, LME, COMEX, LBMA)

- Strong analytical skills in both technical charting (candlestick, trend analysis) and fundamental research

- Familiarity with hedging strategies and exposure management

- Knowledge of import/export regulations, and GST impact on bullion trade

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills

Work Experience: 8 - 12 years of experience in bullion trading, commodity desk operations, physical gold/silver trade, or proprietary trading.
