Role: Commissioning Lead - Bioethanol Plant

My Client is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Commissioning Lead to spearhead the critical commissioning phase of our new state-of-the-art bioethanol plant. As the Commissioning Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the plant's startup, ensuring all systems are thoroughly tested, fully operational, and seamlessly integrated before the plant goes live. This is a pivotal role requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a meticulous approach to ensure a successful and efficient plant startup.
Responsibilities:
Commissioning Oversight: Lead and manage the entire commissioning phase of the bioethanol plant, taking ownership of ensuring all systems are tested, functional, and ready for full-scale operation.
Commissioning Process Leadership: Drive the commissioning process for all plant systems, including process equipment, utilities, automation, safety systems, and other critical infrastructure.
Detailed Commissioning Plan Development: Develop comprehensive and detailed commissioning plans for each section and system of the bioethanol plant, outlining procedures, timelines, responsibilities, and acceptance criteria.
Testing Procedure Coordination: Coordinate and supervise all testing procedures, ensuring they are conducted according to the commissioning plan and effectively verify that all systems are operating as designed and meeting performance specifications.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any technical or operational issues that arise during the startup and commissioning process, ensuring minimal delays and effective solutions.
System Integration Assurance: Ensure seamless integration between all plant systems, verifying their interoperability and readiness for full-scale and continuous bioethanol production.
Safety and Quality Focus: Maintain a strong focus on safety throughout the commissioning process, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and procedures. Ensure the quality of work meets the required standards and specifications.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate effectively with engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and vendor teams to ensure smooth communication and coordination during the commissioning phase.
Progress Reporting: Provide regular and comprehensive reports on the progress of commissioning activities, highlighting any challenges, successes, and key milestones to project management.
Handover Documentation: Ensure the development and delivery of complete and accurate handover documentation for all commissioned systems to the operations and maintenance teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of significant experience in commissioning and startup of process plants, preferably within the biofuels, chemical, or similar industries. Specific experience with bioethanol plants is a strong advantage.
- Proven leadership experience in managing commissioning teams and processes.
- In-depth knowledge of process equipment, instrumentation, control systems, and utility systems relevant to bioethanol production.
- Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, testing procedures, and quality assurance practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines during the commissioning phase.
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations.
