We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Indirect Tax Consultant with 5+ years of hands-on experience in handling GST, VAT, customs, and other indirect taxes across sectors.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, sound technical knowledge of indirect tax laws, and the ability to provide strategic tax advisory and compliance support to clients or internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage indirect tax compliance, including timely preparation and filing of GST, VAT, service tax, and excise returns.
- Advise clients/business units on indirect tax implications of business transactions, contracts, and supply chain models.
- Conduct indirect tax health checks, risk assessments, and due diligence reviews.
- Support in litigation and representation before tax authorities; prepare responses to notices, appeals, and show cause letters.
- Monitor changes in indirect tax regulations and ensure compliance with evolving laws.
- Provide support in tax audits, assessments, and reconciliations with financial records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as finance, legal, procurement, and operations to implement tax-efficient processes.
- Assist in ERP/system configurations for GST, VAT, and related tax setups (SAP, Oracle, etc.
- Prepare and present client deliverables, technical memos, and reports in a timely manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in indirect taxation, preferably with a consulting firm or large corporate.
- Strong working knowledge of GST laws, VAT, service tax, customs, and other indirect tax frameworks.
- Experience in tax compliance, return preparation, reconciliations, and assessments.
- Familiarity with tax tools, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally), and Excel-based modeling.
- Good understanding of supply chain taxation, tax credit mechanisms, and e-invoicing requirements.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, Law, or a related field.
- CA / CMA / MBA in Finance / LLB is highly desirable
